'98 Sahara build: "Staying the Course"

One things for sure, your's won't be mistaken for anyone elses :D
I really don't want to do anything that looks crazy. Just want to continue with the whole "vintage" vibe. While it'd be great to have it be recognized as uniquely mine, I'd much prefer that folks recognize it in a positive way. I like "different", but I also like "tasteful". ;)

The brown/biege might go nice with the green and complement your wheels and hardtop while not being so bold.

Sending you a PM. I have a source for some of the nicest textiles. I have used their leathers and they are very nice yet affordable. And they just released their plaid textiles recently which is ironic that you are hunting some samples.

Thanks, Chief. They definitely offer some quality stuff. Going to get some samples. I already ordered some Westfalia plaid samples from another company. It will be interesting to see how they compare, as I don't know the country of origin on theirs, whereas what you sent me says the material comes from Germany. I found one on Ebay where the GTI plaid comes out of Mexico. Hmmm...not sure I'd go that route.

Very excited to see the progress on this project. Keep it up.

How did the "play time" go?
Turned into garage organization. Had to rearrange the two D44s to where I wasn't gonna kill myself tripping over them, and find a better spot for the half doors. Also gathered up the tools that have been slowly accumulating in places other than the toolbox. By the way, I sold a set of half-doors to a forum member in Indiana. I think he's going to be very pleased with how rust-free and straight they are. They're even the right color, including the door panels.

Yes......sometimes you have to reorganize the garage after several projects.
Same color that matches your Jeep on the half doors 'plus" the door panels match!? Hell yeah he's going to be happy!!

He had actually come out to visit family near me, and we ended up connecting and hanging out at the local 4X4 wrecking yard. He and his brother are great guys. Thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with them. Anyways, he saw just enough of the doors to say "Sold!". LOL I swapped the door panels between the two sets, giving him the color combo he needed, and leaving me with the color combo I needed. I sold 'em to him for what I paid for them, as he's gonna have to ship 'em. Should anyone ever want to know (for shipping purposes), half doors with the door panels come in at 25 lbs. each.

So, between the time that I ordered the samples from these guys and the time the samples arrived, they sold out of the Mexican Brown/Beige, leaving only the Green and the Yellow to choose from. Bummer, as the brown was starting to grow on me as a more subtle color choice. Oh, well. @Fouledplugs sent me a link to a supplier that sells the Westfalia plaids, as well as the GTI variation of the plaid, and they're strait out of Germany. Twice the price, but if the quality is there, then so be it. The material from gowesty.com doesn't list the country of origin, unfortunately. I ordered samples from the second recommended place, and will compare the material to gowesty's. I haven't given up on this notion of the plaid pattern. I think it'd be great. ;)

Okay.....was just checking in.
Appreciate it, LR. Looking forward to my Dirtworx bumpers getting here. I ordered them on Nov. 30th, and haven't heard anything from Robert, yet. But what with Christmas and New Year being in there, I suppose it'll take a bit longer. I'm just excited to get 'em!

Yeah he is weird like that, about no response after ordering, but they will get there. Also he is pretty responsive if you email him.
