Now there's a way to make your shackles look badass!

I recently bought a pair of soft shakles. When I eventually get to use them, my intention is to skip the steel shackle entirely and connect directly to the d-ring tab on the bumper. So there! :) :) :)
To much of a sharp edge on "my" mount points. I would be concerned about cutting the soft shackles

We'll find out on mine. Others have brought up that concern, but I'm not aware of a cut soft shackle yet. Still, I intend to run a rat tail file through my tabs to soften the edge. Can't hurt to do that.

Hate to point it out but ummm you don't have any shackles on your pic 😉 lol
Ha!! Yes, I realize that but I do have the tow hooks in the front which is what we used. We wanted to pull me out the way I went in but I didn’t have any shackles in the back either. So we used the tow hooks to pull me out through the mud and anything that could scoop up mud did. I probably had 200 pounds of mud in the belly skid plate alone. Needless to say I made a huge mess out of the do it yourself car wash bay. I now have a hitch mounted shackle that stays there unless I’m towing.

Good call.....

If you can't read through the sarcasm in the thread title, I suggest you stop reading now ;)

Apparently these come from https://www.mojaveparts.com, and I witnessed them for the first time on a JKU today (surprise, surprise). I really, really had to bite my tongue when talking to this guy. He was nice, but his JKU was just completely riced out.

He told me they just came out, so I suspect we'll be seeing a lot more of them on the JKUs and JLUs.

What does "completely riced out" mean?

So true, it's like how you can never win an argue against an idiot, because they'll never realise they're wrong.
Or the way I generally put it. If I could explain it to you and have you understand it, I wouldn't have to. You would already know.

Wow, why would you put wheels like that on a jeep? thats crazy.
Never heard that term before? wonder what rice has to do with that?

Go check out this thread and prepare to throw-up a little in your mouth:
The unfortunate JKU of the day thread

You've never heard the term "all riced out"? I want to say that term came around in the 90s when the import tuner scene (namely Hondas and other Japanese cars) were being pimped out in unimaginable ways.

Well, I always like to joke that as those "kids" grew up, they went onto own JKUs.

And for that, I leave you with this meme I made:

My problem with any of the picking on and making fun of anyone else's vehicle for their personal tastes in how they choose to represent themselves is I prefer that others do not pick on my choices, so I'll give them equal treatment and not pick on their choices. ;)

If we want to go there, there is a whole bunch of shit on TJ's on here that I can pound on mercilessly.

That went completely over my head! Riced Out meaning from the asian countries because we eat a lot of rice.:)
Like in the 90's as above.
I remember those days also, never got into it though.
Can't wait to show my wife this one,,

Yep. I was in high school and middle school in the 90s, and I remember how many of those "riced out" Hondas you would see.

Everywhere you'd go you'd see Honda Civics with monster wings, body kits, the most negative camber imaginable to man, and crazy color paint jobs (like the one in the photo above).

For whatever reason or another I don't see it that much anymore. I like to think those folks all graduated to JKUs, and this is why we have "shackles" with jewelry bits on them.

Guys,
Please let me know if I do something that looks stupid on my JeepTJ, I have been known to do stupid things and I would much rather someone tell me quickly so I look stupid for a shorter amount of time.:)

As mentioned.. Riced out, or "Ricers" started in the 80s when kids pimped out, slammed, etc... their cars. They were typically Hondas, Toyotas, Mitsubishi's and Nissans... Asian cars, therefore the name. They were cheap to buy used and kids drove them and customized them to stand out. Somebody called it ricer, and it stuck. But you'll see Ford Focus's, Dodge Neons, etc done the same way. It's not a racial slam but a description of a style.
Lowriders, hot rods, muscle cars, motor heads..... and ricers.
