How to start your Jeep (LOL)

I have read a few articles stating that warming up of fuel injected engines is no longer necessary. The advice is to wait about 30 seconds after start before driving away, and be easy on the pedal for about 5 minutes after that regardless of outside temperature.

Before starting any piece of machinery . . . . do a 'walk around'. Bend over and look under the machine/truck/car
Oh ! what's that pool of oil - coolant - low/flat tire - etc. ?
Good idea to pull the dipstick and do a cold oil level check.
Key on . . . for a systems check, flash it up, oil pressure up, slowly move keeping the revs low (don't lug) . . .

LOL, I think I will stick with the instructions in the manual:

Normal Starting
Normal starting of either a cold or a warm engine is
obtained without pumping or depressing the accelerator
pedal. Turn the key to the START position and release
when the engine starts. If the engine fails to start within
10 seconds, turn the key to the OFF position, wait 5
seconds, then repeat the normal starting procedure.

At 2:08, "I hope you guys enjoyed this short little tip video..." That was said about 2 whole minutes after the average amount of time it takes to start almost any vehicle.

The reason I said almost any vehicle is because my diesel Rabbit pickup took a good 90+ seconds in the winter when it was 20+ years old.

In case you guys don’t know how to start your jeep Lol. Who the heck are some of these videos for.

I'm so thankful . My Jeep was stranded in the garage ...I had no idea how to get the thing fired up.

Man , you have no idea how much this has changed my Jeep ownership experience .

How do I open the door ? I'm trapped in it and the top is down ! What if it rains ?

I usually turn the key to the same position in the video, then say a silent prayer that I won't here any odd noises on start up, then start the Jeep. Usually doesn't work. ;)

I will say, I cringe when I see people start their car in the morning and drive away within 10 seconds. I've always done what this guy does, beeps then start. I usually sit there for a few minutes too while I sip my coffee, plug in my music, then I take off. Not sure we needed a video for it though....

I always red line my engine on start so the pistons go all the way to the top of the motor to get the top of the cylinder lubricated. If you don't the the pistons won't wear evenly.....
I herd somewhere.

That is absolutely brilliant. I think there is so much we have to learn from the person who did that video.

can you guys imagine the thousands of owners who were stranded at home not knowing how to crank these things until this video came out.

This guy needs to be in the Jeep Hall of Fame.

I bet he is a member of the Willys family.

Probably has a kid named TJ.
