Roof Top Tents

Does anyone have pics of the trailer there building? I’m in the middle of my build and am always looking for ideas. I’m almost ready to start building the racks to hold the RTT. Still not sure which one I’m going with but appreciate the reviews.

I know the questions wasn't directed to me, but we have close to the same thing. He does have a little bigger trailer though.

I think I posted this earlier in this thread, but as a recap here is mine. I still use it a lot. I absolutely love it, and I bought it, so I could tow it with my Jeep and haul my quad. I have had it for well over a year. I can take more pics if you like. I call it my Jed Clampet!

The tent trailer is bolted to a couple of rails that are u-bolted to the top beams. I have also wired lights on the trailer. I have LED on the roof and floods for loading and unloading in the dark.

I can tell it is back there, and it doesn't have trailer brakes, but it tows nicely with no issues. BTW it is a 4x8 landscaping trailer in its early days.

That setup is exactly what I'm looking for.

I don't need to tow anything other than camping gear and supplies so I may build a hard top directly on the walls of the trailer and install some slide out drawers in front and behind the wheel. I'm hoping that will help to reduce as much air drag as possible.

I was thinking of the 4x8 but I could probably get away with a 4x6 utility trailer by the looks of it.

Thanks for sharing!

I've been trying to find a way to access the entire trailer deck while still having a RTT installed.
I'm thinking of creating a hardtop for the trailer that slides 2/3's of the way back to expose the deck and storage compartments from the top.

If anyone has something like that, I would love to see it!

Let me know if you would like anything like more pictures or measurements. I am happy to do so.

On mine, the top can go up, or I can open my tail gate to access my gear inside out of the weather and or dust.

Love your setup! Looks great man.

Can't wait to install my new RTT, have to finish my engine project first though...excited to join the club though! Will definitely be posting some good pictures for everyone's viewing pleasure.

(lowranger) love it.. looks awesome, what's the body made of? did you build it? mines a 1991 YJ its been cut in half and extended a ft and half for storage, im thinking 2ft of rack a f 1ft for space (firewood) and another foot for the RTT
to sit on, I also want to go solar, and thinking stabilizer jacks underneath for when camped on uneven ground,
I aslo painted it the same color scheme as the jeep. (i'll post more pics as it gets closer) anyway looks great!

It an old 84 or 85 Pack Mule Jeep trailer made in Marysville CA. I found it North of Reno Nevada 5 or 6 years ago.

is that A 2" drop hitch? on 33"
Low ranger...
In your pic it looks like there’s a drop in the ball mount? (not the hitch itself)
The lift on my Jeep was already installed when I bought it so I’m not sure how high it’s lifted I believe it’s 3”
So the ball mount I’m looking at has a 2” drop. your Jeep looks about the same height as mine. Before I buy the ball mout for the truck side, I wanna make sure it’s as level as possible.
Any thoughts?

I'm sorry....don't know what I was thinking.....yes, that is a 2" drop. I have a 3 1/2" lift on 33" tires.

Still using it. Nothing but positive experiences with it so far. The trailer is a must. Because once you get there you don’t have to de rig your tent to go explore. View attachment 87136
That's right! We do the same. Just leave your camp set up and go explore.
