PLEASE

Mod yours with vents from a grand cherokee or vents from Poison Spyder, or Genright

The more expensive option would be a duraflex hood

I see that you're from MI. Be careful about cooling the engine too much and too much water entering the engine bay through vents.

I like the look of the Duraflex hood. Never seen one in person though.

There's also the idea of a vinyl sticker/wrap for whatever works for you.

I have a 2nd hood that I bought cheap a year or so ago, and have been toying with the idea of either a sticker/wrap or vents. That way I can always revert back to my stock hood if I don't like it.

A hood-mounted hi-lift can maybe look "aggressive" too.

Do you have a winch? I can't quite tell by the pic, but it looks like your bumper is setup for one. If not - there's my recommendation - functional and aggressive looking.

I’ve been thinking about getting the DV8 avenger hood and cutting out the raised center section and the side vents and cutting/welding it all to a second hood

Let me say why I wanted to change the hood. I bought this from my brother in-law. And no matter what I do to it, it is still referred to as his. I completely rebuilt the front axle including brake calipers, complete rear brakes, front bumper and headlights, then a hardtop, leather electric Porsche Panamera seats, new different color carpet and all new hard and soft brake lines, and double din stereo, speakers, backup camera and many many other things. I was thinking a VERY different hood with decals that say TJ’s TJ might finally make it mine

Your BIL sounds like a real force to reckon with. Will putting a new hood on his Jeep be enough to loosen his grip?

There is MUCH more, and its not his grip. It’s the rest of the family!!
Peer and family pressure can be a bitch but that's ignorable and no reason to do things like install a useless aftermarket hood that will just let water in to wreak havoc on your electrical connections. Spend your $$$ on upgrades that will actually be beneficial.

Sounds like you need a more aggressive attitude towards your brother in law.
"That's my Jeep! B#*ch!!" might be a good start. Ha ha. Just kidding.
I think anything highline gives the front a better stance. Maybe save some cash and do it yourself.

My fear on your behalf is that the more you alter your BILs Jeep, the more you will upset the family.

It sounds like youre making it yours with all the work put in.

Do you like the way the Jeep looks now?

Would the hood be to make it look better to you or quiet the family?

Is there a signature piece that makes people identify it as his?

As long as his name isn't on the title, what're you worried with? If you like and want the hood, fine. Just know that you attaching parts to something isn't going to influence habitual speech patterns of those that don't want to be influenced. Drive your Jeep, and if they want him to have it so bad, then let them buy it for him at a ridiculous mark-up! :)
