A couple weeks ago my buddy's TJ got a fountain of sand covering his hood whilst we were misbehaving in the desert. Looked pretty funny at the time, but for the next two weeks his AC vents have been sand blasting him. Bad juju. Evidently filled his ducts up with fine grit abrasive. I just installed this on mine and got one for him. Using it as a blocker, not a scooper and certainly not as a decoration (but it does not look bad). Live and learn. I suppose I should post a picture of my Jeep with vent scoop installed. My sled is a real camera slut and does enjoy modeling for the group. Shamelessly embarrassing actually.

Are your grill inserts all aluminum or just the center sections? I have been thinking about getting some with a different center but most that I have seen are plastic or partially plastic.

My hood louvers are aluminum. I did cut out holes with a hole saw for that. As it is extremely hot here, I did this to let heat out after it stops. It does help considerably.

Sure it does, until you get into more difficult conditions where that extra for-looks restriction you added becomes the reason why it can't.
In that event, I grab them with my kung fu grip and pull them off like the decals they are. 2 minute face lift. Thus far, every component of my cooling system is fresh (except the block) and keeping the temperature under extreme conditions exactly where it should be.

Temperature gauge isn't lying. My engine stay right at the temperature dictated by the thermostat. If the engine temperature actually rises I'll certainly try pulling them, but pulling them will not drop the temperature below what it currently runs at so no issue. I watch my gauges and the gauges work correctly so no worries.

Pull them before you have a problem, you are overworking the cooling system which is hard on everything under the hood. Do what you want but we have the experience to help you and wish you the best. Tim

Hotter than the temperature of the engine which is at the same level as everyone else here with a functioning cooling system? Mine runs 200 to 210. Fresh belt, thermostat water pump, radiator, fan clutch, idler, tensioner and coolant, and hoses + clamps.
