Price range for a TJ Unlimited Rubicon with 29k miles

The thing limiting TJ prices will be the long run of the line all the way to the currently available new JL. Unlike the Bronco and some other vehicles which are no longer in production, Jeep still makes a TJ style vehicle. Sure the JL is different, but it still looks similar and has open top and all. So buyers are not strictly limited to TJs if they want a Jeep-like experience.

Broncos are through the roof but International Scouts are pretty reasonable. Even full size Broncos aren't worth much. I think the Bronco is just one of those rare vehicles like the VW bus with high values right now.

I am not from the US

The color is white. I haven't seen the car yet, will do so in about 2 weeks but I was told that it has been garaged all of its life and hasn't seen any mud. The person selling it is a known businessman in the city and has other more expensive cars.

Also, the car is not in the US so that will affect the price as well but it can go either way. On the one hand it is an older Jeep and people who have that kind of money to spend will not buy a 14 year old Jeep but on the other hand it is a TJ Rubicon with low miles.

I would say based off what I've seen, it could go for as much as 30k, though 25k is more of a realistic price.

Don't take this as a recommendation in any way. I saw the rack of axles awhile back but you'll get the real answer on the phone, they sell on ebay too but I just looked and didn't see any listed. If you call post back what they say, I'd be curious.

I think this place would have them as well. Not to long ago they were parting out a perfectly good Rubicon Tj and like you said it won’t be cheap.

So what he's asking right now is a fair price... fair enough. I'll see it hopefully in a couple of weeks and make a decision. It's an auto, is that more desirable than a manual?

Scouts have been starting to rise in price, and Blazers have gone up. Bronco still is the sweet spot of those body styles, with in some cases crazy prices. It's the "it" vehicle apparently.

A contestant on a reality TV show my wife watches called "The Bachelor" recently drove up to his bachelor pad in a first gen Bronco. As long as that sort of thing is going on, prices will probably be a premium, because it tends to attract a wider audience than just old truck guys.

I wonder though, what the new 2020 Bronco will do to first gen prices. Right now if you want a Bronco with open top, you have to go first gen. There is no other option. On the other hand, if you want a Jeep with open top, you have other options including current models, besides the TJ. That has an impact on demand and price.

It is indeed. A clean, low mileage, LJ Rubicon that is in near perfect condition is a hot commodity. I see them listed at 30k all the time, but they sit for a long time at that price. Once they start getting into the 25k range, that's where people seem to buy them.

Of course I see you're in the UK. They never brought the Unlimited (LJ) Rubicon anywhere outside of the U.S.

Was it imported?

Bugs got a little spike when the new one was released many years back. Now even the old oval and split windows aren't worth what they used to be. Maybe the museum quality ones are still up but everything else has dropped back down to below the re-release. Collectors are a crazy bunch with too many dollars and not much "cents."

So is 30k a reasonable price for an LJR?

I don't think it's reasonable at all. Personally I think you'd have to be stupid to pay that much.

But, apparently it's what some are willing to pay, and that's all that matters in this case ;)

I bought a TJR with 18,000 miles for 18 grand. I was like you. Low miles and it was what I wanted. Now I have done a lot of upgrades and now have 23 in it. Do I regret it no. It is the jeep I always wanted yes. So it comes down to what you want. And what you want to pay for it. By the way their asking price was $22,500 I paid cash . The lowest they would come down to was 20 grand until I pulled out the cash and started counting. Make them an offer and be ready to buy it right then.

I paid $18k for my '05 LJ Rubihara 5 years ago and feel like i stole it at that price with 52k on the odometer. Here in GA the lower mileage LJRs seem to have a higher asking rate in the low 20s. I am forever asking those people that are selling them if they got that much for them. I seem to never hear back from them.

In the end its worth what your willing to pay for it. In the UK if that is a rare vehicle, it might be worth what he is asking.

With 55k on the odometer, I paid 10k for a stock LJR. Dual tops, auto. It needed windshield, rear main seal, subwoofer, tailgate hinges, and a good clean. It does have some paint defects, though.

Jeep, and Chaueffer. I bet ,”Pardon me sir, do you have any grey poupon” is heard on the trail a lot.

I still haven't decided what I'm gonna do about the white LJR. In a way, because it has such low miles (28k) I don't think I would have the heart to really put a ton of extra miles on it. Sooner or later I will get an LJR but what I imagined getting is a stock LJR fixer-upper...
