Hi to all you great guys on the forum! I just upgraded from a 93 yj to a 06 tj.:) I want a lift maybe 2-3 inches. It will be a daily driver for now and light offroading weekend warrior. I am wondering what lift to go with to run 33 12.5s? Either a 3 inch with stock fenders or would a 2 inch with tube/flat fenders work. Im wondering how much flex room the 2in. lift with tube fenders would give me? how much extra room do u get if any with getting tube fenders? I dont need TONS of flex because there arent just a lot of trails/rocks here in MS. I also want to keep it as highway friendly as possible.:ROFLMAO: I know its a jeep and that isnt terribly easy and that is totaly fine but you all know what I mean.

Also what happy medium lift would you get,i.e. what brand? for a 2 inch lift do i need to drop my transfer case? for a 3 I for sure will right?

Just some questions I have. Lets hear your thoughts and what works for you all. Already got some great info and I know ill get some more! thanks!

Neither. 33s need about 4" of total lift/clearance is you care to maintain stock suspension travels. Flat fenders that don't also require chopping the hood will offer no more clearance than stock.

OK. I love the look of 4 inch lift. Is there any difference in a drivability between a 3 inch and a 4 inch? And what other componets do I need to install them id rather not drop the TC but I realize i probably gonna have to. just keep in mind that this is a daily driver.......

Time to now check your transfer case engagement into 4 low , as a lift can alter the geometry and throw of the shifter linkage.

It has an adjustment nut , and a cable system will make it all better. It's the ticket .

I guess what im wanting is a lift for a little extra clearance and one that will hold up yet not break the bank. And also is there any chance i wouldnt have to drop the TC due to vibes? Ive read some guys say they didnt have to. I will to keep vibes away but how big of process is that?

Adjustable control arms, a double cardan rear drive shaft and a slip yoke eliminator are needed to eliminate drive line vibes at taller lift heights. 2.5-3" is about when it starts to happen.

Keep in mind that a daily driven street Jeep should be built with the same considerations as an off road Jeep. Quality parts that maintain or add suspension up travel are still important on pavement.

I just lifted my 04 Rubicon with the same uses as you in mind.

I went with the DPG Offroad ultimate TJ lift, 2.5” suspension and 1.25” body with upgraded OME steering stabilizer and Brown Dog motor mount lifts. With the MML I didn’t have to fool with SYE or TC drop. Dirk at DPG is very knowledgeable and can answer your questions about your model and needs.

After researching multiple forums and threads it seems most would agree it’s the best bang for the buck 2” lift out there.

I recently installed it myself and i’m Extremely satisfied with ride quality. I’m running 285/75/16s so basically 33s and netted about 3.5-3.75”. Not sure what gears you have but I have 4.10 (Rubicon) which is fine for me with 33s but may be an issue for you dependent on your needs. Welcome to the forum, just trying to pass along what I’ve learned over the last month.

Cost me $1800 installed myself before tires and alignment. I also put 1.25” spidertrax spacers ($218) to stop rubbing on lower control arms but you can just use washers to limit steering travel if the wider stance isn’t your thing.

Take a look at Zone

They have some well thought out lift kits that wont break the bank. One of the few companies that seems to understand how to lift a TJ and make it ride nicely. You don't have to piece anything together, their 3" and 4.25" combo lift.

This is my 05 with a 4" Currie Lift and 33's before going to 35's just to give you an idea of mine looked like. I did the same as you I moved up from a 95 YJ to my TJ. But my little YJ went a lot of places.
