hey guys/gals. Recently ran across a self induced issue. I removed the stock exhaust heat shield from under my rig. I tried to save it by putting some washers on the screws to hold it in place. Lasted about a week... I know I know, I’m a big dummy. Heat shield is there for a reason .... But now I know that reason!! My floor pan is getting so hot, that my carpet and floor mat, on the rear passenger side, are now melting. Smells wonderful by the way. I had to put some aluminum foil under the carpet to keep it from sticking to the floor pan. The reason I removed the heat shield, it was flopping around and driving me crazy...er. So my question is, should I just replace the heat shield, or can I get away with heat taping the exhaust in that area? I’m open to other opinions/ideas as well... I’m inclined to say that replacing the heat shield is probably my best bet, but it was a pain in the ass to get the old one out, so I’m sure it’s gonna be two pains in the ass to get a new one in. What are your thoughts??
