So I got a yellow jeep back in 2015 and it has been a work in progress as most Jeeps are, since the day I brought it home. I started a build thread on another forum but I’m going to restart it here. I originally had a white can of squirrels and needed some more umph so I bought this 06, 4.0 with 50k miles on it for a steal.
the interior was badly faded from sitting in the sun at the beach day in and day out but otherwise a road worthy gem.
Now the reason I mentioned the interior for both Jeeps was because the first thing I did was a full interior swap. I was going for the look of the old canary yellow Cj’s with brown/tan interior.
I went with a new carpet kit, some floor liners and chose some not too fancy aftermarket seats.
I removed the headlight bezels, sanded, used a prep pad or two rubbing alcohol works fine, primed with an adhesion promoter, coated a few times with mopar factory match paint and sanded then cleared.
Then these came in, not to bad of an install once you get past drilling into your tub.
i forgot to mention everything that’s black on the exterior I sanded, primed, and painted with duplicolor bed armor. It has a subtle texture and is rubberized. If you use it you have to do many light coats or else it just gobs up.
in came a new soft top, threw on factory rubicon Moab wheels and 31 inch Goodyear Wrangler duratracs and this is how it looked pretty soon after I scooped it up.
Then I needed the 33’s to not rub so I ordered some spacers (I know I know I’ve heard it all already) I also picked up some currie 3 inch lift progressive rate springs.
