Evening started off great, borrowed a front end service puller set from my mechanic and had the old tie rod and drag link out in 20 minutes. I was paranoid about the Pittman arm connection due to the lack of space. Came right off with the correct puller.
OEM, getting ready to start the swap

And OEM is out, looks wimpy next to the Currie:

And now the Currie is installed (still waiting for the damn you Currie part?):

So I'm butting everything up, torquing the nuts to the spec's provided in the instructions, then I get ready to grease all the zerk fittings per the instructions and here is the DAMN you Currie part.....

QC missed the Zerk on this one...... So Jeep is down till Currie sends a replacement piece...

I'll take advantage and do breaks etc while it's on jack stands in the garage.

Do you have to send that joint back to them when you get the new one?

To be clear, the one on the other end of the tie rod has the grease fitting in the side and this one does not, is that correct? Correctly installed, the one with the fitting in the side goes at the draglink connection and the one that has it in the cap goes to the knuckle pointing down.

Well, crap Blaine is correct. I missed that complete as the instructions don't specify. In fact they say "Take one of the 22 x 1.5 pitch tie rod ends and install into the tapered end of the drag link". low light in the garage and 50 year old eyes missed the zerk on the back side by the dust shield. If I want to do it right I'm assuming I should flip the ends so the zerk is up where it attaches to the drag link.

Lesson learned, look more closely before assuming vendor error.

Glad you got it sorted out. It's especially nice you don't have to wait for another one to arrive.

All the ones I've seen have the hole on the bottom side of the body when installed correctly. I remember it that way because it makes more sense to me to put it on top so the rocks don't break it off. In either event, the one with the fitting on the side up or down goes to the draglink side. If you put the one there with the fitting in the cap, the trackbar mount will generally mow it off.

Take a zerk out of one of the other ends and screw it in to the end with the missing zerk and then grease that one too. I've greased a whole tractor with 1 zero once. It came with nothing but plugs installed except for the throw out bearing. Used it for all the other points.
Or just buy a set of zeros from Amazon or farm store. Always have a bunch of various sizes and angles on hand. They occasionally get knocked off during use.

hahaha, the only thing we sorted out is I need to pay way more attention to what I'm doing. If I continue to do my own wrenching I need to add a sign on the glove box that reads "Rider beware, the driver actually worked on this jeep"
The depth of field focus was very shallow on your pic so what I thought was the zerk in the usual spot wasn't exactly clear and I couldn't tell if it was the fitting or a light reflection through some distant hole in the undercarriage. If the red arrow is in fact pointing at the fitting, that will orient it down just like all the ones I've seen and installed.

What's funny is I missed that in the photo completely. I was hyper focused on the fact I thought it was installed on the bottom plate like the other three. Perfect example of not paying attention. already dropped it and reinstalled this morning. I should probably change the title of the thread to "Damn you Texvet, pay more attention next time"...
