What did you do to your TJ today?

How did your rear drive shaft fit. Mine is so short now and I need to take another 3/4 off to get it to fit right. The drive shaft shop was giving me grief on if I have any room to shave 3/4 off. They'll do it, did you have that problem or is it my lift kit, the kit that keeps on giving me a headache.
when I installed it I also did a five inch rear stretch.

I drove it. It may not sound like much, but to me it was huge.

Here is why. I was on my way to work on 10 September on my Ultra Classic. I was at a 4 way light and when my light turned green I looked both ways like I always do, but couldn't see the Mac truck that was about to run the red light because of the vehicle on my left and the utility box at on the corner. As I was pulling out into the intersection and making my left turn, I was smashed by the truck running red light. Driver said he didn't notice he the light was red. I spent about a month in the hospital with a pelvis broken in 7 places. After the surgery and lots of permanent metal additions to hold me back together, I realized that my motorcycle days are over and I was going back to Jeeps.

After much searching, I found what I wanted up in Washington, and had it shipped down to Florida. My wife had to drive it home from the transport truck drop off point. I've been stuck in a wheelchair this whole time while my pelvis heals enough to support my weight. I've spent the past few weeks rolling around outside and tinkering with it, but today I had had enough, and told my wife it was time for a drive. I was able to finagle my way up into the driver's seat and the wife threw the wheelchair in the back (thank God I got a LJ).

A short trip to the courthouse, gas station, pharmacy, and McDonald's was good for the soul. I've been either stuck in a hospital bed or in a wheelchair since the accident. You have no idea how much freedom is lost when you go from being a 100% functioning person, to inches from being paralyzed in the blink on an eye. I'll probably get back to 90% of what I was, but that is a whole lot better than the alternative.

So what did I do to my TJ Unlimited today? I drove it.

I think we all agree with you...unanimously in fact.

That was hard enough to read, I can't imagine the thoughts that were going through your mind, nor do I want to!!! Glad you made it through ok!!!
Later you think about it and realize how lucky you were , while spinning a car missed my wife's side of the car head on by an inch ( I'm guessing it was going 75mph) all we saw was a white something go by so close it still bugs me I don't know how many more went by that close, like I said it was heavy traffic. Thank you to all of the well wishers. When we stopped we stopped 1 ft from going off the road into a river. I had no brakes the line was torn off, go figure we stopped 1 ft short of another disaster.

It's being sold. I tried to sell it built, but got nothing but silly offers for six months. Had a full Rubicon drivetrain and aluminum armor. Now it's going back to the stock 30/35 combination and the 231 transfer case. It's a shame because it is one of the nicest TJs around, with nothing but the best parts. It will still have the tub armor and a bunch of other goodies, so someone will get a super nice rust free Jeep for under $10K.

Here's what it looked like before I started taking it apart!

Are those the TJ special edition wheels or just Mickey Thompson like ones?

Bought these and got them set.

Now for a question on the psi.

I have 31x10.50x15 tires. I run them at 30 psi on road. The girls I went 4 wheel'n with last weekend have 37 inch tires. They air down to 18 psi. Should I air down to that too, or should I stay a little higher? I aired down to 20psi I know not much of a difference between 18 and 20, but I just wanted to make sure I don't go to far down for the tire I am running.
A lot depends on how fast you are going and what type of terrain you are on, the lower you go the slower you should go.

Oh man. What a story! Glad you are up and driving at least. Hope you heal up soon. Don't ignore the physical therapy, it's the most important part of making a good recovery.

Ok, so we were probably only doing 10mph max at any given time. Terrain was mainly dirt with a few rocky areas but not super rocky. So I was probably good at 20.

Murphy's Law.

Ol' Murph got me again today. I had some spare time this afternoon so I decided I was going to pull off my multi-function switch assembly to see if I couldn't figure out why my fog lights weren't working. I'd pull the end of the stalk and get the little green "fog light" would light up on my dash, but alas, not fog lights. Easy 2-beer task, right?

I disassembled the switch assembly assuming I'd see a burnt, melted, or corroded switch, or contact. Well, no. Everything looked really good. I hit it with some electrical contact cleaner and put it all back together. 2 Beers gone. So I decided to check the fuse box. Fuse is good. Check with multi-meter. 12 volts at the fuse. another beer gone. Decide to unplug a fog light and check for power at the plug. 12v at the plug. Check continuity at the plug on the bulb side. ZERO. Checked the other side, same story. Bottom line is I spent three beers (that I would have drank anyway) going from difficult to easy. I had both bulbs burnt out, and a perfectly functioning switch. New bulbs on order (thanks Amazon). Moral of the story is, don't do a search "TJ fog lights not working" and assume that you need to start at the same thing everyone else is having problems with, it may just be the damn bulbs!

-Cheers, Dax.

New wheels mounted tonight. I like them better than the Pintlers.
