Dana 44: What is this thing?

I guess I did exaggerate there. I wouldn't trade my 44 for a 35 and don't think anyone should. If I already the 35 I'd just go Super 35 and be very happy about it.
I understand the super 35 kit and would rather have a disc brake, limited slip dana 44 and maybe a locker up front. It's been awhile since I've done much research because of monetary limitations. I will look into the super 35 again and price vs. Reward etc... what if I was to run 37s?

If money is tight, stick with 33's and beef up the rear axle, maybe a super 35 kit with locker.

To run 35's safely will take a good bit of money for suspension, steering, brake, and gearing upgrades.

To fit 37's without breaking stuff you're looking at new axles, body mods, suspension and steering puzzles, big brake kit, deep gearing, and a host of minor details to iron out.

For 37s, like an 8.8 rear and 44 front? Would that be safe?

It is not a daily driver so I can do whatever my funds allow for. Which is not very much at the moment. I'll have to save up some more I guess. At least if I want my dream jeep built by my own hands(and probably some help lol). I guess I could always sell it and look for one already built. But then the history I have with this jeep will be lost. I was hoping to keep it as an heirloom and build on it as my son grows. But I want to start right, not build and regret wasting money on something I didn't want. I guess I should be happy with being able to run 33s for now until I can afford loftier goals. I can afford a dana 44 at the moment and start building it up. That will fulfill my desire to upgrade for the moment I believe. Then at least I will have the opportunity to run 35s without much worry in the future. And little to no worry about running 33s on the rocks.

i let mine get out of control and it's now sitting it's 2nd winter.

get it runnin on 33's then go have fun.
then later if you want big axles, find a nice pair and make those rainy day bench projects.
