Now that it finally decided to get cold (ish) here in DFW, I've found that my 05 Rubi 6 speed will shudder and die when cold. It would also often die on me when accelerating. I replaced the IAC with one from O'Reilly's. It seems to be better, but sometimes it will still shudder and die when waiting at a red light.

Is it the IAC that's causing it? Since our weather is Texas weather, I haven't had any weather near freezing anymore, so I don't know if it will fall on it's face when accelerating. The electrical connections are tight. I haven't scanned for codes yet.

Any help would be awesome!

Is the engine's temperature gauge showing the normal 210 (or close) degrees when the engine dies? If not what temperature is it indicating?

Also, what condition is your battery in? A weak nearly dead battery can cause the engine to die. Really it can.

Is it throwing a check engine light? If so, you need to scan it for codes first and foremost.

The TJ does tend to only like Mopar parts, one of the issues could be that it does not actually like the generic aftermarket parts that are in there. Sounds weird but sometimes its that simple.

I also had a cold weather stalling issue that turned out to be a bad diaphragm inside my Power Break Booster of all things. So I dunno. Pay attention to the exact things that happen when the stalls occur and post them here.

The temp is normal. I've only had the jeep for a about 6-7 months, but the battery looks brand new.
Thanks for the reply!

It was around 35 degrees outside when it started acting up. I changed the IAC (which is a PITA for an 05. There is only one screw, but the put it at the lowest, least visible and accessible place) and it hasn't gotten that cold since.

It's acting better, but I still stalling. I don't know if it's because the Non-MOPAR part is unpalatable to it's refined sense of taste and style, or if it's just the improving weather.
