What did you do to your TJ today?

20191206_211753.jpgBeen working on this for a while. Installed the axles, new hubs, axle tube seals, reinstalled steering linkage and prolly a few more things tonight. It's an axle swap that I cleaned up and completely went through. Just another Dana 30 but different gear ratio. It won't look like that for long. Just waiting for the snow to fly.....

Installed M.O.R.E. Bombproof 1" MML. Then set timing after bumping OPDA with pry bar during MML install. Old motor mounts were in pretty terrible shape.

What gear ratio did you go to?

Sleep deprived wrenching, pt. 2...
After sorting out the clunks and squeaks due to the shocks not being bolted in on the front, I still had some other clunks and bangs coming from the rear. This was not entirely unexpected since I snapped off one of the sway bar link bolts. It broke inside the flag nut which meant I then couldn't get it out of the frame so that side of the sway bar was not connected. Here's a tip: if you can't put both sway bar links in, don't put any of them in. What a racket.

After several hours with a small, China Freight powered hack saw and an air chisel, I was able to break the damn flag nut off. Got the sway bars links installed solid. Drove around a bit and...

Still clunking back there. I was running out of time because we had tickets to see Deadmau5 at The Armory and it was getting late. Seems I'm always running out of time. Crawled underneath. Checked everything. Found the frame end of the track bar was not tightened at all. This was another oversight due to it being 2 a.m. when I put all this shit together 2 weeks ago.

Think I've finally tackled all the bumps, creaks, squeaks, rattles, and clanks from my suspension system install.

We all know we shouldn't be doing this stuff when we're exhausted or in a hurry, but we do anyway. Guess I'm lucky it wasn't something like steering linkage or brake lines.

So yesterday I replaced the battery cables with the kit from custom battery cables. While trying to get everything routed cleanly I forgot to hook up the wire on the alternator end and thinking everything was good to go started the Jeep. No issues I thought, then I noticed cel was off. I’ve been chasing P0340 for a while. Having the battery unhooked it cleared the code. Shut off Jeep , removed ground from battery , hook up wire to alternator and ground to battery. Start Jeep bam P0340. So I cleared the code with my reader unhook wire to alternator and start with no cel?? Could the alternator cause it to trip P0340?

Repaired the damage done by 4 wheel parts Santa Ana store. I had 4 wheel parts install a Rock Krawler 5.5 triple threat lift on my jeep. I kept breaking welds, lower control brackets, the rear truss broke off on the trail and left us stranded for 8 hrs as we had to repair it enough to get to a tow truck, on the Frwy it would rock back and forth to the point it felt like it was out of control. Took it back multiple times and told them it is unsafe. Their response was you drive it to hard I kept telling them something was wrong. It turns out the dumb asses and I'm being kind put all 4 lower control arms on backwards. They installed the bushings on the axels and the Jonny joints go on the axels not on the frame. Called Mike the complain guy at 4 wheel parts told him what was up. Lucky the shop that was doing another repair noticed it. His exact words were anyone could have put them on backwards. REALLY you charged me to put it on right. So after a bunch of crap they paid the cost to install them the right way. The store employee's told me ahh you have a lot of money that was their response.
This Mike guy would not pay for any of the cost to repair the welds they caused to break, even their own welds which didn't penetrate. He offered me a gift card which never came. Every time you hit a bump The arms would hit the frame because they were on backwards and stop any upward travel. When we flipped them they were bent from being on backwards, Mike refused to pay for any of it. Beware of their warranty it's worthless just like they are. That's what I did today, Thanks 4 wheel parts.

4WP's is a HUGE SCAMMING ORGANIZATION. I had a similar problem with a bad install and a bad bill. I actually wrote and email to both supervisors and the head of customer service. Also talked to the head of customer service on the phone. Nothing. No response to my emails. Not even a were looking into this. Or oh were sorry. Nothing. They don't care. They just want your money.

And their shops are a joke. They couldn't even balance my tires. And I asked for all lead on the inside. They got it half right. Half are on the outside half are on the inside. They also kept my new set of lug nuts and never put them on. Never to be found again. And the guy that helped me the price changed everytime I spoke to him. I even had a written estimate. Beforehand. And they still overcharged me. And like I've said, I've been in in person and talked to them. And written letters. Who takes the time to write a letter?! Every step of the way they ripped me off. Before, during and after the jobs I had them do on my Jeep.

I only use them for parts now. As you can get anything delivered next day. But other than that if I can buy it ANYWHERE else I will.

I'd go over Mike's head to the next level, and on and on until you hopefully get something resolved. I've heard a lot of bad experiences with them, so you may not. But you might aggravate the shit out of them if you want to spend the time doing it.

I hope you get something resolved in your favor.

Mine was at the Redondo Beach store. Maybe it's just a CA thing. But when I spoke to the head of their customer service she sounded like she was drinking scotch and smoking Pall Mall's. Had no training in customer service at all. No apology. Not even a promise to look into it. You just can't run a business like that in this day and age.

The Exact same customer service I had. Mike was 2 up from the District manager who never called me back after multiple calls.
