Recently got a bestop tailgate rack it's about 20x40. Looking for ideas on how to load it up. Combination of storage bin and other things strapped down? Let's see your tracks loaded up how you use them!

This is mine mid 3000 Mile road trip. Heading in to the campground for that night.

Spoiler alert, the rack didn't make it. The top of the spare carrier it was on broke. Old and rusty and not meant to carry this much weight.

I have that same Bestop cargo rack that I only install when I need it and when I do it typically has bags, tents, camp chairs, coolers, etc... and I through an elastic net over the top. One thing that I did was I added a piece of high density foam between the top of the spare tire and the rack so that the rack can't sag and then I add a tie down strap from the rack around the spare tire so the rack doesn't bounce, it seems to work well. However, for the most part, I only install it a few times a year for long distance trips to the trail and when I am on the trail it is empty.

The only thing of significance I've had on LOD rack was an ARB waterproof bag full of stuff.

I bought the Bestop rack and the mounting bars for a TJ and adapted them to fit inside my LJ. Haven't had the opportunity to load anything on it though.

I don't use an exterior cargo rack on my LJ, although one is available for my Rock Hard 4x4 rear bumper/tire carrier. I did use an over-the-spare cargo rack on my CJ-7 for a while during the mid 1990's. It worked well, but I never liked weight that high or how rear visibility was impaired. I subsequently tried a removable Conferr cargo rack that mounted above the roll cage over the rear seat for storing tents and other lightweight gear on extended backcountry trips, shown here on the Rubicon Trail in 2000.

I currently use an interior cargo rack behind the rear seat of my LJ to create two levels for packing gear. Works for me.

I made some oak runners coped to fit the tubes, then mounted some of the same runners to the bottom of some long milk crates and different coolers. I keep a smaller milk crate (boss pepsi crate) in the middle so I can still see out the back.

Hi wondering if you could provide more pics and a description of how you adapted the rack to fit the LJ. Thank you

locally welded... designed made by me in a sheet of paper.... can handle a lot of weight... the only con.... you can't open the tailgate while the rack is in place...
