Auckland Helloooo NZ

Hey mate

Thanks - I will keep an eye out on Trademe. I have one factory wheel (the spare) so will find a set in the same style.

I'm going to try to install an ATV style sound bar (on the sports bar) like this wetsounds.nz/product/stealth-10-ultra before the weekend. I'm currently using a Sonos Move in the passenger's footwell so anything is going to be an improvement on that!

I'm based in Glen Innes; just around the corner.

Hah, I just installed an ATV bar into mine... I bought a Hifonics Thor 10 back with me from the states (because they were cheaper than Wetsounds) The Hifonices soundbar isn't amazing (but more than good enough), but the idea works really well! I mounted it on the roll bar and have good sound at 100kmh with no doors/roof!

I'll get some photos today. There doens't seem to be much info on using soundbars in Jeeps, but it suits my use - as I treat it more as an ATV than a car, aka refuse to use a roof, no carpet, get dirty, hose down etc

Note that I don't have the factory speaker pods on the roll bar, so I was searching for some decent waterproof speakers to mount to the roll bar, but then I was going to have to get a marine head unit as mine has quit working after getting wet a few times, so decided to just replace the whole system with the sound bar.
If I had the factory sound bar/pods I would've just upgraded the speakers etc

Hey Josh

Nice one - are you able to flick me a message about how you found the install process? Was it pretty straight forward? I don't have the factory sound bar/pods either so there's heaps of free space.

Cheers

I was gonna ask how that install went Josh....a year or two ago I went with a sound bar but upgraded the speakers to Soundstream ones. and sub under the front seat

I’ll take some photos and throw a quick writeup up tomorrow.
My main goal was water resistance, although and among all the potential options it seemed to go well.
I might still find a “water resistant” under seat sub. The sound bar has an output allowing for it.

I tried to find a water resistant one within my budget and small enough for under the seat...ended up with a pioneer but not water resistant :(

I'd pop over and give you a hand but me and anything electrical don't mix well (might as well be in hieroglyphics haha)

Hey all

Another New Zealander who has just joined the Jeep life (and this forum)!

I'm based in Auckland and have just bought a 1999 Jeep TJ Sport.

She's pretty much factory (aside from the wheels/tyres). I think I will try to track down a set of original factory wheels but unsure how successful that will be.

The only other thing I want to sort is the factory speakers. I think they have blown/degraded with age, but at this point they are dire.

Cheers

Hey mate not sure if your still looking for stock rims...these are off a Cherokee but they may fit. (you could always ask the seller he know if they will fit or not.)

Wow, just bought a set of those for $120 US. they are the stock Grizzly rims and the fit out TJ's, as long as they are 5 x 4.5 bolt circle.
$120 USD is about $180 New Zealand Dollars, So its 3 times the price you paid. 😲
Everything Jeep related is expensive out here..

Agree, but I also think that seller has no idea! Surely no one will pay that?
You would hope not... a set out decent 17inch Mazda rims from a wrecker is about 350-400 bucks so he's way out.
Plus I think he's left the tyre lip on it haha
