Upgrading the sound system on your Jeep Wrangler TJ

What if I used this setup expect I use the kicker deluxe speaker pods for the sound bar and dash would it still be deafening loud? And also does the amp need some kind of remote or do you just plug it up? I’m not very good with electronics.

Just jumping in. What are you building,or buying, speakers, amps and head unit? You probably need an amp wiring kit as well. What do you have, what are you buying and how much are you looking to spend. You can also build the audio in multiple stages, spend a little now, save some money and buy more.

I already have an alpine ute-73bt installed
So I’m buying:
The kicker deluxe 6.5 sound bar speakers And the 5.25 deluxe dash pods
Also I want to get the kicker compRT 8” sub that Chris got and I think I’m going to have to get the 200 kicker amp also.
So what do I need to do and will this all work?

When you listen to music, do you mainly stream, listen to the radio, Sirius, CDs or what? That head unit does not play CDs so just making you aware, but Apline has a great app called TuneIt, so download that if you do buy an Alpine head unit.

If you stream, I cannot recommend enough a Kenwood head unit with a Qualcomm aptx chip like this one. Streaming quality is so much better than others.

Oh, that subwoofer is NOT 8", its 6.75". Big difference. Did you mean 6.75"?

Also, you have five speakers so why do you want to only amplify one speaker and not the other four? This is a nice 5 channel amplifier that will not brake the bank, and give you what your five speakers will want.

Yes i meant the 6.75 amp sorry about he confusion. And I mostly stream music from amazon music on my phone using the alpines Bluetooth. But with this 5 Chanel amp do I risk blowing the speakers. I’m just going to say I’m not as good with electronics as I am mechanical stuff.

Before I dive into a little more detail which kicker speakers are you going for; the CS, DS or KS line?

Use this as a guide as there are many ways to build.

That Soundstream amplifier pushes out four channels at 60 watts at 4 ohms, and one subwoofer channel that pushes out 200 watts at 4 ohms or 350 watts at 2ohms.

That Kicker pro comp (1 ohm version) when wires in series will pull and be stable at 2 ohms.

Now we must look at the other four Kicker speakers.

The 5.25" are rated at 4 ohms up to 225 watts. That is good for this amp.

The 6.5" are rated at 4 ohms and up to 300 watts. Again, this will work well together.

Amplifier wiring kit is huge as well. Very helpful

Sorry guys for hijacking this tread. What size tires, lift and spacer do you have? Looks great !!! Thanx.

Alright man thanks

How are you feeling about your audio? There are other options for speakers as well. Kickers are solid but there are a few others out there - Crutchfield is a very helpful site to search and review and price out. Then use Google to further price out.

I replaced the factory units with these. Used brackets and a boom mat enclosure while I added a new head unit. Love the sound

Okay so I upgraded the audio on my '99 TJ. Went the route of Chris' upgrade, Kenwood KMM-BT328U Digital Media Receiver, Polk Audio DB522s and DB462s. Upgrade made quite a profound difference. However I am missing the bass that the subwoofer would provide.

Chris put the Kicker CompRT 6.75" sub into the factory center console location. My TJ does/did not have the factory sub. I can't seem to find any center console with the factory sub. My Jeep used parts guy says they are really hard to come by. When they get one in it's sold quickly. Told him to keep an eye out for one.

So what would be an alternative sub and where can I put it? Under the passenger front seat? Under my rear seat (even thought it may be out of the jeep more than it's in)? And what about amps? I guess I could still get the Kicker PXA200 Amp.

Thanks for any advice you may have.

Chris
