Talking to Boosted Tech on the phone made me want to jump off a bridge.
I actually hung up on them the first few times I called cause I thought I was getting an automated answering system but it's just the way he talks. And any time I would ask a question there would be a long pause, then a one word response that wasn't even related to the question I asked, then another long pause, then a different topic. It was very odd. I'm an air traffic controller by trade, I'm pretty good at picking up on odd communications, foreign languages, weird responses, etc. I'm usually in control of the conversation. They're like from a different planet or something. Just bizarre. And I'm pretty sure I talked to the same guy every time but he would always act like I'd talked to somebody else. It was bad enough I decided not to use their support or tuning services at all. I've still been chasing a couple issues, the Jeep was erratic between open and closed loop, so I'm running in open loop all the time now and it cuts fuel above 95% throttle maybe 10% of the time.

Aaaaanyway, I Just got a new map sensor and injectors this week, tossing those in and tuning the PCM directly and ditching the Split Second. I've also got a wideband and boost gauge with analog feeds into an HPTuner ProLink so I can do full data logging. I've learned a whole lot about tuning in this whole process, and the NGC PCMs are not an overly simple beast.

The physical quality of the kit and machining is great, however.

That's very typical of all conversations I've had with Mark and others who've talked with him — including not remembering me even if I called back 5 minutes later I'd have to go through the entire conversation all over again or else he wouldn't understand my call. I have about 20 emails back and forth from 2 years ago where he couldn't comprehend why I needed SKIM to function and he went as far as telling me to put black tape over my airbag light and disconnect the airbag. He has gotten better at communicating in the last 6 months though if you want to try again. Sounds like you've got it under control though.

Did you plug the 7th injector when you removed SplitSecond?

I haven't actually done it yet, just got the parts. It's my daily driver so before it potentially goes down if I screw up the tuning, I need to get my Comanche running again. That's what I'll be doing this weekend.

I knew I'd have to do something with that injector port but hadn't looked at it beyond that point yet. Are you still running your Split Second?

Who has a NSG370 and how is it holding up with your stroker/super/turbo?
I have a Bank's turbo on my '05 LJ with the NSG370 and have had zero problems with the transmission. The only problem I have encountered is the extra power seems to be very hard on the clutch in high boost situations climbing sand dunes. I'm running an OEM pressure plate with a LuK clutch. I could be wrong about the extra power being hard on the clutch, but that's the best I can come up with.

Anyone running high boost? Thoughts on reducing the pulley ~15% to get another 4.5lbs of boost out of the M90? This would get me into the 12psi range at 600ft. Does anyone know at what point inefficiency outpaces gains?

I've had an '05 Rubicon Unlimited since new, and have had the Banks intercooled turbo for around 5 years. I've done a lot of rock crawling on Fordyce, Rubicon and other trails around here. Never had any issues with the transmission, I'm really happy with it.

That’s good...because I just chose to get a remanufactured unit instead of the AX-15 conversion.

I'm sure you already know, I can't remember what I've discussed with you already, but the head studs and gasket start becoming concerns shy of 10psi I think.

I'm interested in this right now. My Jeep (05) in consistently throwing a P0344 code and the camshaft is pretty shot from the early OPDA issues.

So I'm looking at a cam, lifters, springs, rockers, head gasket and head studs. ZZP aftercooler and spacer. Hole in the hood. Also have the parts here to go bigger injectors with an srt4 2bar map and ditch the split second.

I think that, in addition to a knock sensor, I should be able to run 12psi and advance the timing from stock quite a bit. Should be a ripper, I would think

That's quite a bit more than I'm looking to do. Should be pretty good though. I'm hoping to get away without a cooler and be safe when outside temps are into 90f. I understand if I need to back off the throttle if temps are 100f+ and I probably will need to even with what I'm currently running.

Seems silly to read you saying it's 'a bit more' after reading through your thread. (y)

Your overall build is kind of my beacon, but engine needs addressed first I think, and while I'm there...

Maybe I'm paranoid but already at just 7 psi I'm nervous at standard atmospheric pressure because there are no safe guards on this engine and I can't hear it over wind and tire noise. I'd like to make the charge air as cold as possible, or a knock detector like a Plex

Perhaps besterest worded as "a bit more than I want to do at this time".

I've briefly looked at knock sensors.

I’ve got four years and 20k miles on my Banks intercooled turbo. I highly recommend it. It doesn’t do much for mileage though. It is just too hard not to put your right foot into it every chance you get. Gasoline for grins. It is a good tradeoff.

I can’t imagine a better time to be laying it down with gas prices being so low!

I think if you are handy with a welder and bending up some brackets you could piece together a turbo setup yourself and save substantially. Pretty much everything is available to piece together one way or another, and for the modest 6 or 7 psi you don't need a fancy turbo. I'm knocking around this idea with a turbo off a Toyota 3sgte I have laying around and my 2.5 comanche

Couple units of Banks turbo w/ intercooler left. What do ya'll think? Magnum powers SC or this?

Looking for

Power
MPG increase (If possible)
Tunability
Longevity
Ease of use

Also to expound on this, don't expect an mpg increase with any forced induction. It works on new cars that are built around it, and efficiency is the game, but slapping something on a 4.0 will, at best, result in the same mpg, unless you want to start getting into lean burn tuning which would only be out of boost and is irrelevant.

Which brings me to the tuning, if I'm not mistaken the Banks comes with preset tunes on some sort of proprietary device. If you want to actually adjust any individual parameters you'll need to get an HPTuner and the credits for your VIN. I could be wrong though, I don't know the capabilities of the Banks tuner. But I do have a raw copy of a Banks tune pulled from the PCM using... an HPTuner lol

How does HP tuners connect to your laptop? Bluetooth, USB or serial port?

Hello neighbor.

The MPVI2 has bluetooth but I'm not sure if it will read/write from that or if it's just for obd monitoring. I wouldn't trust it to keep a connection for that anyway and not brick the PCM. It connects physically to your PC using USB, type C on the MPVI2.
