Is it a simpler install for a 4.7 out of a grand Cherokee into my 99 tj

I've never done if but there is one person over on JF that did one into his TJ. No swap is SIMPLE no matter which route you decide to try and go. Of course the wiring would be one of the harder issues. And then with the know problems with the 4.7 I'm not sure it would be my first choice for engine swap. There are enough threads on here and other forums about either using the 5.2/5.9 Magnum V-8's or the 5.7 Hemi that if you want to do a swap I would lean towards one of those first. Then your next option is to use a GM LS engine in the 5.3/6.0/6.2 versions.

They will all pose issues and won't be simple.

If you want simple & cheap then the simplest is using a 5.2/5.9 V-8 Magnum from a Grand Cherokee. As I said there are a lot of threads about doing this on this forum and others.

Here are 2 on here and if you go over to Jeep Forum there is a 180 page thread about swapping the magnum engine into a TJ.

But the magnum engines were never HUGE H.P. engines and are not as fuel efficient as say a GM engine.
No matter which V-8 you choose you are going to have to move motor mounts, transmission mounts & then blend the wiring of the TJ with your donor engine. You might need new drivelines also. You'll need a new radiator and hoses.
I have a 5.2 V-8 in my TJ right now and have a Dakota 44RE 4 speed automatic transmission right now.
I have a 5.9 that I am building to replace it along with a 46RE transmission.

Simple? No. Cheap? No. But plenty of people have done LS swaps In Jeeps so there are tons of resources for those swaps. If you have a free low mileage 4.7 available, It would be cool.
