Thought I would start a thread about hunting. I see several in here like to hunt.
Share your stories and pictures.
My wife and I hunt quit a bit. We hunt to put meat in our freezers so we don't have to by our meat from the grocery stores. No telling all the stuff (pink slime) they have added to that. Plus we just like being in the Great Outdoors.
We do like to hunt for the "Big Guy", but if that doesn't happen, we try and find one to put in the freezer.
My wife has become quit the Huntress....She shot a Blacktail buck at 502 yards and hit him in the heart. My friends tell me not to make her mad at me, and if I do ..... don't run.... you'll just die tired.
We have hunted out of state (Idaho, Nevada, Montana and Colorado) for elk and deer. We do most of our hunting here in Northern Caifornia for Blacktail deer, wild pigs and turkey.

Me from the 2014 Michigan white tail deer season. I've been hunting with my father since 1987. Hunting isn't a big part of my life but it's a tradition that we've carried on throughout the years. I enjoy the venison but I don't judge my success by shooting a deer each year. Success is making the time to spend with my father and just spend some time in the woods. I enjoy the peace and quiet more than anything. I also enjoy the stories and comraderie back in camp at night. Harvesting a deer is just a bonus (Although a really tasty bonus).

Been hunting on and off since I was about 15. Big game is mostly an archery affair. Last year was my first out of state hunt, southeast Idaho. Saw some great bucks, great bulls, and a crap load of grouse. We arrowed those on a daily basis. One of our group shot a nice 4x4, I missed a smaller buck, buddy also missed a nice 4x3. I ended up shooting a fat doe, ID is either sex during archery season. Going back this year and have deer and elk tags already:emoji_thumbsup::emoji_punch:

I really hope you mean your buddy shot a nice deer and not a nice jeep :)

Rob ...did you see any sign of wolves? In 2007 when we went to Idaho, there was a lot of wolf sign. Had the elk and deer all spooked and didn't see much. Ran into some locals about 8 miles in on a trail that had been there for a week and hadn't seen much. They said there have been too many wolves in the area. That was before you were allowed to shoot them. I think now Idaho is allowing it. Not sure on the season or how many you can shoot.

No significant wolf population where we are at, they are mostly in the northern end of the state. You can shoot wolves in ID and I would if I saw one. The way I read it, there are zone harvest limits but, no limit per person, you just need a tag per animal is all.

It wouldn't be any fun if you got all the ones you shot at. I've missed a few Michigan whitetail in my day as well, so you're not alone.

Yes....A zone was pretty slow hunting this year. I heard it was that way all through A zone. I managed to get a 3x3 the Saturday of the last weekend of the season this last year. Yes.....it is a little upsetting when you finally find that buck and you "miss".

We are in D, even the locals we talk to every year weren't seeing anything, and they set out trail cams all over. Hopefully this year will have a good showing with hold over bucks:emoji_thumbsup:

Nice pictures Ted. I like that whitetail you are with on the tailgate of the pickup. That is next on my list. Never have gotten a whitetail. Lots of blacktail, but haven't gone after the whitetail yet.
We are heading to Canada in June this year for a bear hunt.

That is actually my wifes buck. Her first one. She didnt want to pose for the pic so I did. Then she had a change of heart and possed. She didn't want blood on her. She is trained now. She won't hesitate to reach in and pull the lungs and heart now.
