My review of the Vision X Vortex 7" LED headlights & Vision X 4.7" CG2 Light Cannon LED Fog Lights

Chris,

I started out looking to upgrade to H4's and after lots of reading including this thread and your end all headlight thread , I have decided that I'm doing the LED conversion .
I am undecided between the truck lites or the vision X lights .
If you had to nail down the pros and cons of each or even if you just said what are the things you like better in the Vision X over the truck lites it would possibly help me pull the trigger on one or the other . Thanks

They are both almost equally bright, but the Vision X lights are a bit brighter I would say, especially with the optional high beam harness.

Looks wise, I preferred the Vision X as they looked similar to a stock headlight I thought.

Thanks for the reply ,

How long did you have the truck lites for and how long have you been using these Vision X ones ?

I had the Truck Lites for about a year, and the Vision X headlights for about 6-7 months before I sold the TJ.

I'm sure you don't run both high and low beam very often (or for very long), but I've heard it can cause damage to the wiring due to the extra current of both bulbs. Of course that was an old mod for the stock lights. Maybe not a problem with LEDs.
If you still want more light, you can mod the fog lights to stay on with the brights also.

Here's the headlights in the daytime, about 3:00 PM PST. Just wanted to give you guys an idea of what they look like in daylight.

Keep in mind that these photos do not capture the light that great. The halos are extremely bright in the day, so bright that you can easily see them on, even in direct sunlight. So consider that when you look at these photos, that you're missing out on how bright they actually are in person. I'd also like to add that while the lights appear to be blue (especially the fogs), this is just poor lighting. They are in fact very white, whiter than my Truck Lite LED headlights were.

Here's the halos alone in the parking light position:

And here's the low beams:

Here's the high beams:

Here's some shots with the Light Cannon fog lights using the "wide flood" pattern lenses (which would be equivalent to a fog light lens for street use):

Here's the Light Cannon fog lights showing one with the "wide flood" lens removed (which is a spot light pattern, not suited for on-road use):

Couple questions:

If you have both high and low beams shining simultaneously, does that mean you don’t have the option to use just the bright or low beams?

What about shining too much light on coming traffic?

I know nothing about halos. So maybe I’m missing something here?

When you switch to low-beams, ONLY the low-beams shine. When you switch to hi-beams, BOTH low-beams and hi-beams shine. The halos are not involved.

Hi @Chris, do you have a picture of the low and high beams on at the same time? In your original post I see the pics of them separately but not together.

Unfortunately not, and I sold the Jeep before I could take anymore 😕
Thank you anyways. I ordered the part to make the lights work at the same time but received the wrong item (H13 instead of H14). The time to exchange it expired, so I will have to order the part again but was wondering if it is worth it.

It's totally worth it. With the low beams on at the same time as the high beams, it makes an astounding difference!

Great! Thanks for the feedback. I have loved these lights. Still fascinates me how much light they put out.

You were right @Chris ! It is an astounding difference! Happy I followed your advice. I got the part that makes highs and lows work at the same time. Look at the pictures below. First pic has both headlights with only the low beams on. Second pic has the driver's side with only the high beams on and the passenger's (adapter in place) with both (high and low) on at the same time.

Have you tried them at night on a road with no street lights? When you put the highs on (especially since the lows are on with them), it's pretty mind blowing how much light output there is.

I don't care what these things cost, these ARE the BEST LED headlights out there for the Wrangler as far as I'm concerned.

I totally agree!

I have not. I've tested them around my neighborhood at night, and that alone has blown my mind! I'm so looking forward to going deep into where city lights are nonexistent and testing these lights. Again...thanks.

No problem! Once you get deep into the woods or the back country, you're going to love them even more. So much light output you'd never even think about needing a light bar.

Thanks for giving me something else to spend a huge pile of money on!

Is it possible to wire the halos separately to an ignition controlled source so they are just on at all times when the Jeep in running? Would there be any problems with that?
