Lots of snow up there last year, lots so far this year, I did Black Bear last September, am hoping to do it again this year along with a few more. Pending passes being open.

I rode Black Bear pass last year in late August. Had my first ever bird strike on my bike that day.
It was dang nab cold 🥶 too.

I'm debating on weather or not to tow my tj out there. I'd hate for something serious to break and not be able to drive it home and be out $$$$.
Do you or don’t you trust it? Can you afford for it to be fixed there, both time and money?

I’ve driven it and enjoyed it, my goal with my build was to be able to drive there, wheel and drive back.

There are some things I didn’t do because of it while there so next time I will be trailering if I can.

It's not that I don't trust my rig. Even though I don't know what it's limits are yet, I havnt wheeled it to much, I don't trust myself. Lol. "Yeah I can do it" *breaks jeep in half* "WELL that could have gone better"

I'd be lying if I said this wasn't on my mind as well!

And you bring up a good point as well. I'm trying to think of all the parts I need to bring that might be hard to replace, which for me would be a lift pump for the tank, injectors and injection pump, everything else is pretty much stock Jeep parts.

Doesn't mean I'm not nervous about it though, I still don't have mine street legal yet and I'm already trying to figure out how much seat time can I get in my TJ before this trip next year!

One more comment on trailering, do you trust your tow rig?

I took my Jeep up to our local off-road park, 3 hours away. But I also had the gf take my truck up with the kids because we were camping and loaded the truck with gear and grill stuff plus figured if I break something I had my truck to get it home.

On the way home the truck went into limp mode, we pulled off in the middle of a construction zone on Interstate. I check it out and have tranny fluid everywhere.

Throw a tow strap on the truck and have the gf pull me to a safe spot just after the construction. AAA towed me 100 miles home from there.

Ultimately all that happened was a transmission connection from the cooler somehow sheared off. New line and filled back up with fluid it was good to go.

But I say all that because there was nothing I could do to fix it Sunday night on the side of the road.

Plus. An upwards of 23hours driving the the tj. I think I could handle it. I think my wife would dislike it, and I think my kids would start to flip out after 4hours. (They are young)

as far as the tow rig i would use. i'd trust it there and back. i wouldnt drive it hardly at all once in moab. although, itd be cool to get a picture of it on a rock xD 2016 4x4 Cummins Titan

I set the radio to play dvds while driving plus the kid had her iPad too.

She was only 5 but she will say the best part of the trip for her was making fun of my gf’s fear of heights on Hells Revenge.

I'll be trailering. While I love my TJ 200 miles, AAA free tow maximum, is the most I'm willing to take it without a trailer. I don't want to be worried about driving home after the trip.

I will admit I now tow my TJ most everywhere I am going to go wheeling. Years ago when I only owned ONE rig I drove to every trail and then back home. Have a trailer I use to tow behind my TJ if I was going camping and such. I drove 2-3 days to get to a wheeling point and wheeled then drove home. Funny thing was when I built my TJ 15 years ago I was going to get a camp trailer to tow behind the TJ and go wheel and camp. Once I had spent all this money and time on the Jeep it wasn't as reliable as it was STOCK.

I get the worries but if you have problems there will be enough people that we can get you going. As far as what parts to bring or not to bring I wouldn't over think it. You know what maintenance you have done so bring the basics and if you need something more it can be gotten. You aren't out in BFE with no stores around...…
Well that is unless you want to go out to BFE and hit some of those trails.
