Towing is definitely the better option if you are coming from far away. The first time I went to Moab I was with my Dad in just the TJ. It was a bit concerning, at least for me with 200k miles. The second time I went to Moab, we brought my Dads JK (not wheeling it) along as well so we at least had a vehicle if the TJ went down. That made it a fair bit more enjoyable because we weren't super reliant on the TJ to get around. It sucks trying to have fun when you absolutely need to drive the TJ home.

Enterprise also rents 1500 - 3500 trucks. I use them often for towing. I believe Moab has an enterprise as well, so I'd check that out as an option.

Yep, I'm going to definitely rent something. I'll probably get a truck from Enterprise and a trailer from U-Haul to tow it with. I'm not going to drive a TJ 8 hours to wheel it and then hope it makes it home. Not to mention with the wife and kids in tow, a big truck would provide us room to all fit, plus bring our baggage.

@Chris your making me feel like I'm crazy 🤪

My ecodiesel got an average of 15mpg towing to moab last year. I also looked into renting a uhaul but after seeing it would be roughly $500 I bit the bullet and bought a trailer. After Moab 2021 the trailer will be paid off in avoided uhaul charges alone.

I think that considering this may become a thing, I probably need to start browsing Craigslist for trailers. Wouldn’t hurt to own a trailer.

I know that the Titan will get 22mpg "unloaded" with my old xr650r in the bed.(300ish lbs)

Seems even new are not that crazy, depending on what you look for.

My Craigslist search provided many new options.

I can’t imagine a used one would be that bad in that case then.

My wife always wants a big truck. Maybe now is the time to trade the van in for a 3500 lol.

As long as you don't need to pay to store it...

Lemme search in a bit. I know I've got some. :)

They might be in my PC. I'll search the photobooks once I get home. I actually had an accident with the first 4runner I hauled on it. Had to park in the grass at work, came off to fast, and the jack smacked the curb. Busted the weld on the jack and the 4runner hopped over about 3inches. So the rear tire was rubbing on the rear trailer tire. Didn't realize it until I had gone about 2miles. "That sure is an awful lot of smoke. Don't tell me my Tacoma is burning the hell out of oil right now. OH, no it's burning tire. Ok. Jack the car up, hooked a truck to the rear of the frame and pulled it back over onto the trailer." All at 3am after I got off work lololol
