I have a volume knob for that.Damn, that will be loud up there.

No but I have enough points still with best buy to afford the front. I just have to figure out what size. When I put the rear in I realized only the front driver side worked.
The sound quality to nothing compared to having an Amp is way better than the cardboard stock speakers I had

I have the same Kicker series in 5 1/4 in the front. My fader is about +1 to the front. Even if I had to go to +5 that would not tell me I had made a bad choice for the rears. I just wanted to fit the largest speakers (within reason) in the stock locations. The 5 1/4 were the very same price as the 6 3/4.What I meant was you may want to fade the head unit to the front speakers, possibly +5, so those overhead speakers do not drown out the front stage.
no sub. o the 5.25 fit in the dash (I honestly haven't researched yet) I don't mind doing small mods to accommodate 6.5in but these seem to put out decent sound for me in the overheadPoints are great, but don't force spend them. I believe you said you were not into audiophile so I would keep it simple.
Do you have the center console subwoofer or no subwoofer?
I honestly would move your 5.25" to the front and buy 6.5" for the speaker pods and stick with the same kicker series of speaker.
Next step would be to get an amplifier though, 4 channel to power them, but only if wanted, if you get the Jeep itch to upgrade/mod.

My 03 had an Alpine stereo in it when I got it. Says built-in amp with 18 watts x 4 channels. Stock speakers. Would aftermarket speakers make any worthwhile difference in sound?

Just curious, did they fit into the recessed hole or did you mount them on the top surface? I used the 6 3/4 and they were just barely too large to fit in the recess but mounted just fine. Here are some 5 1/4 in sound bar. I ended up putting them in the dash.I have the Kicker 6.5s in my sound bar. No mods. dropped right in. Im putting the 5.25s in the dash next.
Did you put BLAMs in yours? Speakers are on my list....
You could get improved sound with aftermarket speakers for sure. With that amp specification make sure the "Sensitivity" rating is above 90 however. If you fill in your Jeep specifics at Crutchfield they will list everything that fits. Just sort by Sensitivity over 90 and you will have several to choose from.My 03 had an Alpine stereo in it when I got it. Says built-in amp with 18 watts x 4 channels. Stock speakers. Any speaker with a mylar or poly speaker cone, as most automotive speakers have, are essentially marine rated.Kickers are fine. I think Polks get recommended because they're also marine rated.

So all the highs come from up front and this does mids in the rear? Im trying to learn what to do to perk up my jeep sound. No mod for the 6.5"s just so you know, you just sort of angle the screws in, like this. This is a 6.5" woofer, not a coaxial speaker like the kicker.

I also want to do an under seat sub but all the powered ones have reviews noting longevity issues.
Do you parts list for separate tweet, front speaker and 6.5" that play together? I am currently not using the space under the rear seat and I do not have a console sub and when I do turning brakes it will likely wipe out some console. Space is premium for me, the only spot I've seen that seems good is underseat?Yes, all the highs and mids (5.25") come from the front stage, and then if you get a 6.5" that flows properly with the front stage you get good mid-bass from the 6.5"s. Adding a subwoofer will make a big difference and complete the sound, but finding the space is the problem, depending on how you use the Jeep will play a big factor on the subwoofers placement, everyone uses their Jeep differently so there is more than one solution to accomplish this.
Why do you want an underseat sub? Do you have a center console sub, you could add one there, up to 8" with a little snip here and there. You could also use a traditional box, or attach something to the rear tailgate (some company has a mod for that one).
For the front stage, relocating the tweeters to the dash using a two-way 5.25" component set is a huge upgrade, and one of my favorite audio upgrades done to the TJ.
