Wanted to warn members about Morris 4x4

If this wasn’t an actual company I would think I was getting scammed 🤣 they will never get my business again.

They've been bad for at least the past 5 years, because I remember dealing with them 5 or so years ago and thinking to myself, "What a friggin' headache!".

How they are in still in business, that is beyond me.

Y'all are making me a slight bit nervous. I just placed an order through Amazon Prime for a new Bestop Replacement top. Knock on wood, I haven't really ever had a problem with any orders in the past.

Supposed to be here Saturday. We'll see. I know this virus thing has really thrown a wrench in the works for a lot businesses.

If you ordered it via Amazon Prime you literally have nothing to worry about.

I guess I was lucky to dodge their bad service. I ordered my Currie rear upper adjustable CAs and Tom Woods driveshaft off their website last October. Got it in about a week. Only reason I used their website to order those parts was because I found a 10% off coupon code online that worked🤷🏽‍♂️

I've had about 10 orders from them over the last 6 years, most recently about 2-3 months ago and 8 months ago, and never had a problem. I don't recall shipping times or anything, but I didn't need anything I ordered ASAP either, but I know it didn't any kind of time that I had to look into it. It sucks that people are having problems with them.

To start with, I can't tell you how many times they've listed something as in-stock, only for me to order it, have them charge my card, and then get an email the next day saying that it's actually not in stock and on backorder.

This happened to me just last week with tail lights. They shipped one and told me the other one might ship out August 21st. What am I going to do with one tail light?

Yep, that sort of stuff really pisses me off. Like you said, what are you going to do with one?

They dropped shipped it from crown. Thankfully I still need it and they are the cheapest. I guess I understand now why it was gonna take 3-5 days to hear back from the warehouse since it was crowns warehouse they would be waiting on. If he would've said its drop shipping from the manufacturer I wouldve understood the delay in response but when you tell me its gonna take that long from your own warehouse that makes no sense. What a shitty way to do business. Oh well last time for me.

When I was looking for my Currie lift around black Friday I found a great price but it did not include tax or shipping. I reached out to Morris 4x4 to see if they could price match and they flat out said no. Even when the website says they will. I called quadratec and they agreed and got free shipping too.

I'm not loyal to any one company, but if you don't practice good business ethics I'll never shop with you. If I'm looking to buy something I will put the part number or name into a google search and use their shopping tool to see prices from different websites. Find the lowest one and see if anyone else that provides free shipping or no tax will match it. (amazon included)

Do your due diligence before buying. Most of these companies hope that you don't.

Morris is already on the shit list here.

The guys who run that company are idiots who don’t deserve any business. Far better companies out there to do business with.

This has nothing to do with COVID, Morris was like this long before COVID.

Stay away from Morris, Quadratec, and Extreme Terrain. Use Amazon Prime and Northridge.

Yup. That's what I'll be doing in the future. Ordered my tailgate bar two (2) months ago - May 18th. Still haven't received it. Despite numerous emails and PMs here with the Morris rep promising to get it figured out asap, I still don't have a tailgate bar for my new soft top. Covid, OMIX changed their inventory system, blah, blah, blah . . .

NEVER. AGAIN.

I needed a cab cover for my Jeep that just came out of the paint shop. I ordered a Bestop cover from Morris 4x4. I paid with Paypal. I had to register online after I ordered. After I ordered I thought something was weird. They charged PayPal and my credit card of course thought Paypal, but their website was showing no order. The only record I have of placing the order is on Paypal's website and the vendor listed is "Autoanything." So I went to Autoanything and put in the invoice number on their website and they are showing no record of that invoice number either.

So now I've had to file a dispute with PayPal to get my money back. I ordered another cover from Amazon.

Goodbye Morris 4x4. Nice website. Sucky company.

If you scroll to the bottom of Morris4x4, you can see "Bestop Morris LLC ". Bestop owns a lot of Jeep related companies that you wouldn't necessarily think they did. I'm surprised that Morris wouldn't have great service on anything Bestop if they are owned by them (could be wrong, but it sure seems they are).

I've never ordered anything from Morris so I'm in the clear thankfully. I try to stay away from those "Walmart supercenter" Jeep stores.

EDIT: You can see in this article that Bestop does in fact own Morris. Interesting considering how good of service Bestop provides.

EDIT2: Looks like Bestop then sold Morris to AutoAnything in March of this year. AutoAnything is a PE owned company.

Can confirm Morris 4x4 has dropped the ball several times. I ordered some daystar core supports for my radiator back on 6/12 and I haven’t received them. I call to speak with someone and funny enough every time I call I always have 12 people exactly in front of me in the queue. Can’t get a response from anyone there.

This is correct, also AutoAnything really sucks.

Little off topic but...

I've found the financial side of aftermarket Jeep parts to be fairly interesting. Kingswood Capital Management owns AutoAnything which owns Morris. NorthRidge4x4 is owned by Capital Partners. Bestop is owned by Kinderhook Industries. Superwinch was owned by a private equity firm for a number of years.

A lot of the companies that come across as small businesses really aren't. They might've been at one point, but the owners sold them and retired to the Bahamas. Not necessarily bad thing. But I find it funny when people claim Amazon collab on this forum takes away from small business owners. Purchasing from a lot of these places simply gives the 1% investors in PE firms a higher return on investment. Also not necessarily a bad thing, but I would prefer to give actual small businesses like Savvy my money.
