Painting hard top

I used Duplicolor bedliner on my bumpers and it's held up great. They have 2 types. One is a bit thicker and has more texture. I used the thinner one but both work well. The trim and bumper paint I used is thinner again and maintained the original texture of the hardtop. Being a mat finish it is nice and even (no spray overlap or dry spots).
No way man, you made the right choice by going to black. Grey doesn't look right on silver IMHO.

I'm with Chris. Looks way better black with your colors. If you want to sell it grey and if it really is worth more, go buy some mopar matching grey paint and repaint it grey. There. Problem solved. Don't listen to the nay-Sayers. They aren't that rare. I see em on eBay and Craigslist frequently for like the same price as any other tj hard top. Looks good man! When I paint my jeep Impact Orange next summer my khaki top is gonna become Black too!
To follow up on this - would I be better off selling the grey and using those funds for a black one? Is a grey hard top worth enough to do so?

Rattle can duplicolor bed lined mine this week. In black. Light sand, rubbed down with alcohol, masked and sprayed. Huge difference compared to the faded black/grayish mess it was. Should have taken a before pic. Damn. Here is the after
I like that a lot. Great job. Mine doesn't really need painting, probably just a Magic Eraser going-over, but if I did paint it, the Duplicolor bed liner is a good choice, I've used it in the past.
Any issues with it turning grey? I have had issues with bed liners turning grey from the sun, I need to paint mine and this would be an easy fix. Thanks

Mine is Rhino Lined love it other than the added weight! It is now a to man job to take it off.

I used a roll on bedliner (monstaliner) maybe 5yrs ago and I really like the end result. If you go that route I would suggest 3 things. 1. Make sure its UV protected and 2. Only use rollers and paint trays for one coat 3. Pick a color close to the original color. I say this because the paint is thick and some places like around the windows and in the grooves on the roof you may not get 100% coverage. My top was spice color and I painted it a dark gray color and if you look close you can see the original color in spots. With that said I would do it all over again. IT takes a beating and has not faded. Also it didn't add much weight. I used 1 gallon for the tub floor and the too with some paint to spare.

I just picked up a tan hard top for $500 and I want to paint it black. Does anyone know how many rattle cans I need to buy to knock it out? I’m ordering paint online and I don’t want to run out mid project.
The Rolling Stones tune immediately began running through my head once I read this sentence.
