What did you do to your TJ today?

Today I changed the intake/exhaust manifold gasket on my 2.5 low output. If your 2.5 is performing poorly even with 31's and 4.88's make sure some dumb ass didn't install a gasket with a screen over the intake ports.

A wash and put on the OEM soft top for the first time. The POs must not have used it much. Its looks almost new. In three days, my daughter and I drive it to Pennsylvania via Florida. She wants the soft top the whole way. I'll be adding some posts to "TJs in Beautiful Places " soon.

I actually bought them from Quadratec. It's the 6 piece floor pan and torque box kit here. I found the fronts easy enough to get in if you drill out all of the spot welds. There are way more than you might think! You can get away with just cutting out the old pan and grinding back the remaining metal, but I found it was cleaner to fully disconnect the old floor pan. Minimal hammering required.

Drove it up to the top of what I think is about the roughest local trail around. Has some rocks in the beginning and a lot of wash outs crossing the road in addition to being quite overgrown. I didn't get any pics of the rough parts but it was a lot of fun and took a little thought on a few spots. I believe the cabins at the top are an old sawmill or logging camp. It was getting late by the time we got up there so I didn't go down any of the other trails at the top but there seems to be quite a few up there.

Original plan was to just paint the front and rear bumper, but I also ended up painting the tire carrier and some of the faded exterior plastics with SEM Trim Black. I forgot to take before pics. I also ordered stubby end caps today to get rid of the four milk jugs

This won't be for everybody, but if you have a dark hardtop in a hot climate, you might think about it:

Masked off just the top...

All the way down in front to the rubber....

Rolled on rubberized RV roof coat.

It will take at least one more coat for it to look good - maybe two.

I'll post up a couple of overall shots once I'm done - this has a 24 hour cure time - but it will mostly
be able to only be seen from the front. Should help reflect some of the Florida HEAT!

Finally swapped out the old paint flaking hood for a new one I got from a jeep parts guy. Just need to do some re-configuring of the window spray. New hood is from a 2000 TJ and my LJ is a 2004. The new hood has two holes for spray nozzles so just need to add an extra nozzle.
