What did you do to your TJ today?

My Jeep is getting pretty rusty so I didn't want to spend a whole lot on it. I found a set of tires and rims (old school) on Craigslist for $400.00. when I had the front tires off I noticed a bad front axle joint and inner axle seal leaking. That lead to me changing front brake calipers, pads, and all new brake lines front to back. So my $400 dollar tires turned into $800.
Hopefully I'll get a couple more years out of it.

Busy day for me today. Nothing completed but great progression.

1st: driver side door has been primed. Ready for paint.
2nd: Finished painting my double din center console.
3rd:Completed modifying 2 original rocker switches with just “on” rockers. Far right one will be for the ac on/off. Don’t have an accessory for the other one yet.

Are those ON switched the aftermarket kind found on eBay and Amazon?

If so, how did you get the text to light up?

I’ve made lots of little steps in my build over the past week and a half. After I made my shift knob I decided I was going to throw a set of flat fenders on I picked up almost a year ago (man, life really gets in the way of things sometimes doesn’t it?). I picked up the fenders second hand, but never installed. Seller had a YJ, and bought an open box or something and had these sitting in his garage for a couple years. No box, instructions, or hardware but I think I got them for like $50 and already had the tiny LED’s in them. Guessing their Barricade or one of the other 30 brands that sells them same rebranded stuff. But to install them I had to put my grill back on, and install my fancy new radiator. Satisfied with how it all turned out. If my week goes as planned I’ll hopefully finish tackling the engine wiring.

yes they are.
Turns out that they took an original OEM switch and remade it. You can easily remove the actual rocker from an OEM one and the aftermarket one and swap them.
All you have to do is use a #30 drill on the left hole so that the aftermarket switch can fit.
OEM housing, aftermarket rocker.

original on the left.

You‘re talking about drilling on the OEM switch where the little button thingy on the aftermarket rocker snaps into it? And yOu didn’t have to to anything to get the text to light up?

I have a Spot Light switch and a Rear Lights switch. I can’t remember if they are the Air On Board or the Gold Coast Distributing switches don’t I may have to see about doing this. Thanks. (y)

Correct on the drilling. The Oem switch tabs are different sizes. The aftermarket ones are the same size.

the aftermarket switches are stock white plastic that is painted black so the text lights up. Even with original lights. I put the 6500 led super white ones in mine.

my aftermarket ones were the Gold Coast Distributing.

Loaned my RinoCon to a stressed out client to enjoy Friday evening with his wife and 2 young daughters.

He had one years ago , he's a nurse and Covid and all the new regs are just wearing him out, girls climbing the walls doing virtual school, us tearing the place apart.

Made my day to see it make theirs.

I rarely do things like that...and keep a professional distance, but sometimes you have to just forget all that and be a friend.

Installed a hand throttle; and since I dropped a screw down into the console at the transfer case shifter I got to pull the entire console out. Figured it needed cleaned under there anyhow. Something lemons, something something lemonade. 😉

This is what I found recently while replacing the soft top. I ordered a new Bestop factory replacement soft top header from Quadratec. After 6 weeks of back order the package arrived yesterday and I installed the header today with the help of a friend.

Today I also did a brake job replacing the front brake rotors with Centric Premium rotors and BMB pads.

Also had two replacement SKIM keys programmed and cut by the same friend.
