2006 LJR “Mongo”

Update: Got mongo smogged with flying colors. I ended up having to take it to the dealership to have the O2 sensor readiness monitor issue fixed, and they also did the transmission lockout recall. Didn‘t pay a dime either! Thanks warranty!
My LJ had that O2 sensor issue dealt with under warranty 2 years ago when I bought it. I required the seller to get it smogged before I bought it, so it was his problem. :)

Installed some TruckLite headlights that I picked up off of eBay. Now I can actually drive At night! I also installed the new transmission mount with the exhaust hanger from @JMT. I had to do some grinding on the trim rings because the previous owner had cut the mesh rock guards off and left some sharp barbs sticking out. It wasn’t really necessary, but I’m not a fan of sticking my mitts into a finger poke/stabbing waiting to happen (and my OCD just wouldn’t let me leave it). First pic shows how terrible the old lights were 😂.

I’m also thinking of getting rid of the hard top. It’s not really my style and it’s not really necessary here in SoCal. I’m all about the soft top life. Anyone looking for a hard top?

So I’ve got some updates! I’ve fixed the parking brake, and I’ve added my old Spiderweb Shade from the JK (which sold!) i picked up a near new soft top for $100 (thanks to @notarubicon) I have also settled on a lift, the Rock Krawler 3.5 X-Factor Plus and most likely Fox shocks to replace the old RS9000’s with the RCX kit. I’m trying to source a stock Khaki rubicon hood to replace the louvered one because I‘m not a huge fan of it. I found one for $100 bucks if I trade him my louvered hood but I feel like I’m getting ripped off. More to come y‘all!

Hey all! I just received my 2006 LJ Rubicon! Purchased from TX with only 81k miles on it. I’ve given it a good look over and it came with some cool goodies (and some not so cool quirks). Overall I’m incredibly stoked. What I know:
-Hardtop - cool but I miss the sun rider on my JK (lemme know of y’all got one)
-6 speed-STOKED
Poweraid TB spacer (WOOOHOOO MORE POWER) - not
-Rancho shocks with compressor for adjustable feel
-has a pretty big lift (4”?) need help ID’ing brand/size
-Champion aluminium radiator/fan with painless wiring harness
-some Chinabilt bumpers/sliders which are coming off ASAP
-Black rock wheels with some beefy BFG Mud Terrains
-Warn winch without a controller (need help ID’ing model so I can get a controller)
-otherwise stock and in solid shape

Congratulations, nice ride.

Suspension/Winch update with better pictures! I had to add the bump stop picture just because it’s hilarious. I did note some initials on one of the control arms “MS”

Is it me or does that look like a dropped pitman in the 4th photo from the bottom?

Here are some pics as Mongo sits today...still slow and clumsy, but doesn’t look as much like a school bus (according to my girlfriend.) I also added the third brake light from WD Automotive (GraBars Parent) a while back and forgot to post. I am loving the soft top!

Haven’t done away with it yet, but I am not the biggest fan of the looks or the fact that it leaves the whole hood open to the elements.
I have been debating it. Kinda like the looks and any heat reduction down here is a good thing. Same kinda Concerned about the open to the elements, but I was also thinking about how much water gets splashed up driving down the road or puddle crashing. Idk.

Yeah very true. I am also not the biggest fan of the giant Poison Spyder logo on it. 😂
