When we have been you see rentals all over the road. Expensive as hell to rent plus you have to sign a waiver to not go off road. Lame.
Yep, I see the same thing every time we go! What a blast though. The island air and a topless Wrangler!
I know i sound like a broken record regarding offroading in Hawaii but try Lanai.
The wife and i spent all week on many different trails in a JK and the rental place actually highly recommend a Jeep.

Not much there (except beautiful and scenic nature), but it is a gorgeous island!
Maybe that's the good part about it, that it's mostly untouched by man.

Lanai is a fun spot for a Jeep, did that years ago for a work thing and we had a blast. 2 Jeeps fun trails beach and a BBQ.
Big Island has it's spots,

Moana Loa Road, about 12,000 ft elevation.

Great pics. How do tires hold up on that jagged lava rock? I imagine that stuff tears em up pretty quickly.
