Small or mini amp for my TJ, any suggestions?

i had the older JX400/4D couple years back.
the front gain pot went bad in it and blew up my driver side front speaker with what seemed like full gain.
i was stopped at a light at the time thankfully, scared the bejeezus out of me.

sounded great while it worked.
How much use did you get out of it? Did it fail early? was it repairable with a new pot?

Those look very compact. How is the sound?

While it's hard to compare IMO it sounded good for a bike which has worse acoustics than our Jeeps.
And they offer a 2 channel & 4 channel unit.

The one in mine right now was is from 2006. And you know they weren't small back then.

I'd read this thread a couple times today but it wasn't until just a bit ago it dawned on me to suggest some of the bike amps.

it got used for less than a year but im sure its fixable, its still in my junk rack.
i was driving a bunch when it happened so i needed a replacement quick.
it got replaced with the larger amp in my picture on the first page.

Here is the amp I installed. Also, the link for purchase. I chose this one based on reviews on amazon. I chose to go with the marine grade Polk speakers front and rear (soundbar) For the front thats pictured I used the Polk DB5251's that come with tweeters. I made tweeter mounts out of ABS plastic. Heated and bent accordingly. It looks like the mounts could get snagged. Believe it or not they are well out of the way even though the pics may trick your eye into thinking otherwise. Very satisfied!! Please excuse the poor floor painting, my jeep is currently going through an interior makeover.

Why a tiny amp? You can mount a much better/bigger one under a seat.

I wouldn't want one under my seat due to water crossings where it could get wet. But if you don't have that to worry about then yes it's a good spot.

Now I wonder how WATERPROOF these marine grade amps are? I know the ones we use on our bikes can take a pretty good dunking from riding in the rain.

+1 on the Alpine Power Pack. I have an Alpine BT Head Unit and got the plug & play Alpine Power Pak. I am really happy with it. PO had older Polk DB series speakers (Component in the soundbar, 2-way in the dash) Still not happy with the sound quality AT ALL (though with the Power Pack the sound is very clean and can be cranked WAY up) so I am having Crutchfield's install and tune x4 - Polk MM series 2 ways and adding a Kicker HS10 self-enclosed, 10", micro-sub at the beginning of February.

Just a quick tip - VERY IMPORTANT to get enclosures (stuffed with Poly-Fil) for the 5.5" rounds, especially if you do not have a sub.

Ok, I do not mean to drag this out into a saga. A buddy has two UTV pyle amps, both new. He said I could have one. The problem is, the amps are at his other home in Havasu. So I will have to wait until he heads out there.

Havasu in January wouldn't be a bad road trip
