Alex01 Silver Sport Build Thread

If you or anyone else has sheet metal holes that require a backer, copper is what I’ve used in the past and is the choice material for giving the backside something that the weld won’t stick to.
Reading from the top always shows you miss something. Ignore my tech tip. haha

Not the most fun day but I got a bunch of small stuff done. The cruise control, emissions, washer reservoir, and horn are all mounted to the inner fender.

The new hose for the psc come in tomorrow but I'll be heading to the mountains for the extended weekend so I won't get to it this week.

Looks great, what did you end up using for a washer fluid bottle?
That looks exactly like the 97-02 bottle he’s got there right? I’m pretty sure the 97-02 mounts with those bolts in front unlike mine which is 03-06.
@BuildBreakRepeat is right. I used the stock bottle. After playing around with locations for a while I found that I could put the stock bottle on the rear of the fender and the cruise control right under it. I had to dig into the harness though, in order to move one of the washer wires, the one that controls the front windshield, it was pretty easy and just required making the ground wire a bit longer.

1 step forward 1 step back.

Forward: I got a K&N filter because the stock filter was going to be a hack job in order to fit. I had to discard the shield they provide for the filter and instead made a small bracket for the pipe to mount to. Oh I miss the days of simple bolt on mods.

I added a sock to it to help filter out more dust.

All that's left for the air side is to tie the york into the feed line for the valve cover vent line.

Step back: I ordered high pressure hose for the return line, for the psc, instead of low pressure. The inner diameter is different enough that I can't get the barbs to fit. Once the new hose comes in though I should be good to start the jeep.

I started painting the fenders today. It was the first time I've used a spray gun so there was defiantly a learning curve and I spent about 1.5hrs fixing a drip that I sanded a hair too early. Tomorrow I'll wet sand the primer down with 1200 grit and if I have time add base and clear. I'm glad I didn't attempt to spray all the pieces at once, looking back though I should have probably started on the slider backers since they are a lot easier of a shape to learn on.
