For all of us with two wheels also

This is an awesome thread and a great story as well @Wildman It’s great that you are teaching your daughter to ride so young and not only that but teaching her the RIGHT way to ride with the right GEAR. I truly believe that experience on motorcycles makes you a safer driver in a car as well.

I’ve had bikes for years and have been lucky enough to have some great friends to ride with. I’ve ridden through all lower 48 states except Florida, and 4 Canadian provinces so far. Did the Iron Butt thing, 1000 miles in 24 hours and 1500 miles in 36 hours. In fact, off-roading on bikes is really what ultimately got me into Jeeps, since my wife wanted to go with me but there just ain’t enough room on the 450 to put her.

Any recommendations on trails to ride dirt bike in Big Bend?

I started riding when I was 3, on a yamaha pw50 with little training wheels on it, I dont have any pictures of it then but I have the same bike a little later onView attachment 100025

I rode pocket bikes and dirtbikes for awhile as i was still a little guy,

The I moved up from a pw50 to a pw80, rode some 150s in between and then got a yamaha ttr225
View attachment 100028

That was my first bike with a clutch and I learned to shift and how to manage, a more realistic sized bike then I got a Honda XR650L and took the motorcycle safety course
View attachment 100029

I took the course on a Royal Enfield 500, that was provided by the dealership for the course

Both my parents ride, so it wasnt much trouble for me to convince them to get my license
My dad rides a BMW K1200s and has a Ducati 748 and my mom rides a Yamaha FJR and a Ducati Scrambler

Heres me trying out my moms scrambler - the SC projects exhaust is super loud and makes an amazing sound, and thats my dads BMW in the background

Finally heres the 98 GSXR 750 I just bought, cosmetically its kind of bad right now with a bad spray paint job and those silly little spikes, but its the first year of fuel injection for the gixxers and the engine runs strong, the tires are good, the forks are good, and the chain and brakes have all been adjusted and redone. Its a lot fun and is my first real sportbike/non dirtbike motorcycle.

I plan on having many more bikes in the future

I posted this previously, but Ive redone the GSXR and I've made it look less squidly and more appealing;

and now it matches by dads duc!

I dug a few more of my bicycles out of storage and moved them to my new place.

This one I tweaked a bit and took it for a ride after I got it home.

1964-ish Dunelt Sports with mtb 26” alloy rims, Nashbar slicks, 2sp fixed gear hub built by moi. Surprisingly nimble for a hunk of Sheffield Steel. Used to Alley Cat on it when I was in my early fifties.

Still rocking my Honda, but just recently added an Ultimate Seat (like riding a lazy boy down the highway), installed new saddlebags because I am getting tired of shoving things in my jacket when I ride, and opted for another fairing. Had one years ago and loved it, but the mounting system was always janky. This one will utilize brackets that actually bolt to the triple tree. Hoping to get this one painted myself. It will use 6x9 speakers which I was hoping for 4-5.25s, but I got this one with a huge discount due to a blemish that I cannot find.

You should put little angry eyelids on the three lights.

Rode about 30 miles north to Gold Beach last Tuesday, beautiful sunny day hovering around 65. Wound up in a wind tunnel on 101 N and froze on the way up but the way back was great.

I didn’t follow this thread but what do you ride Jim!!?

Just stumbled into this thread. I've been riding...forever. My old man was giving me rides on his Norton Atlas when I was 5 years old. I've owned a few bikes, my first was a Honda 305 Scrambler I picked up as a basket case for $50. I actually got it running...for a minute. Then a Yamaha Enduro, a couple of Triumphs ( a Daytona and a Tiger), a 750 Yamaha, and then a Triumph Bonneville.
My first Harley was a rigid frame Ironhead Sportster, followed by an Evo Softtail.
20 years ago, my wife and I got ourselves a Road King Classic as a wedding present to ourselves.

Should have kept that one, but I traded it in on Wide Glide.

Went back to a touring bike, a 2007 Road Glide. I still have this one, with 85K miles on the clock. HD really hasn't improved on it enough in 14 years to make me get another one.

I also played around with a 2011 Husqvarna TE630. It was a lot of fun, but a couple of get offs and some cracked ribs took the fun out of it. This was going up the steps at Goler Wash in Death Valley.

I had a '77 Shovelhead for a couple years, but as I've gotten older I find that I prefer bikes that I can spend more time riding than wrenching on.

This '93 Low Rider was a hoot to ride. Chicks dug the color.

I sold the Low Rider when I bought my wife's late brother's FXD off his widow. Didn't really need 2 Dynas. I did swipe the dual disc front end off the Low Rider before I sold it. This one will stay in the family. My grandson has already put his dibs on it.

Not sure what'll end up in the garage next. Been thinking about a Triumph Speed Twin. It's light enough to carry on a carrier behind the motorhome while still flat towing the Jeep.

Have ridden 2 wheel Harleys for years, but in 2016 I decided they were getting too heavy for me so traded for a TriGlide. Fast forward to this year and found with arthritis in my shoulders the trike was too hard to steer (no counter steering on trikes). A friend had a like new Canam Spyder F3 that he was not riding and made me a good deal on it. Took a. little getting used to but the power steering cinched the deal. Getting ready for our 2 week guy trip next month. This year we are going to the Black Hills, but before the rally.
