What did you do to your TJ today?

I have been the fence on this for some time. I’m gonna pull the trigger eventually.

Just do it lol. Its good quality product. Super easy install with good directions and includes all of the velcro tape you need. Even the cuts you have to make are pre etched on the back panel of the carpet.

Took care of some slop in the control arm bolt hole.

Addressed some long overdue cooling system maintenance. All new hoses, water pump and fan clutch. 1.5 hours to complete after a 14hr work day to get ready for wheeling this weekend. The fleet mechanic in me is shining as the replace everything mentality has made it into the jeep as well. Also the writing date of purchase on parts makes warranty easy.

Anatomy of a failure - what is less than optimal with this design?

Versus this?

What we think is the horizontal fin design caused premature failure as the hard mounted radiator was pulled/twisted by frame flex and it leaked/ steamed where the cap met the fins....ideally the new radiator isnt affected at those connections as much with its vertical design...even if it sees torsion it should not weaken the welds at the tanks.

Had it flushed , new thermostat, new housing, etc and belt (thankfully...the steam made that one squeal )

A/C freon being checked, and just generally being gone over, evaluating rear track bar placement for the Teraflex axles and rear shock strategy.

Not going fast with this one ...rather get it as right as I can than just make changes.

The cool thing about this V8 transplant is it is complete to nth degree...even the parking brake warning light works with the autometer gauges. It appears stock as you approach it, then you can sort of tell something is going on.

What is not cool is they unhooked all the suspension basically...just springs and control arms...way too limber. Dialing all that back in as I go.

Thats how you do it. The less you worry about off road/down the road the more fun you have.

Yup. That's the plan! Still need to do alternator, belt tensioner, clutch, valve cover gasket, o2 sensors. Its a long list but it's all maintenance stuff that the past owner overlooked and I am slowly working away. $100-200 a month in stuff still beats a $600/mo payment on a new one. 😆

You are doing exactly what @SamwiseGamJeep did...went all through it, he wont be doing much else for a long time.

Same for me as well. I find it quite enjoyable to drive it home from work on a nice evening and change some fluids, replace some parts, clean stuff up. Feels better the next day.
