Should I buy a RC (Rough Country) lift?

So, the TJ I own has the rough country adjustable control arms, I bought it with these installed. As stated in your warning the bushings in the rear lowers are worn out, so I'm wondering if there's anywhere to get replacement bushings for them, I'm not having much luck finding info online for it.
Last time I checked the RC website, they sell rebuild kits for the control arms.

I saw on they're website to call about bushings, but I didn't see rebuild kits.
I was also wondering if anyone knew of a different company that makes better bushings that would fit these, since they're known to go bad quickly.

You may have to call them, but I know they have them even if they aren't listed on their website (rebuild kits that is).

I'm honestly not sure what other bushings would fit in there. I would tell you to install a Johnny Joint, but I'm pretty sure those won't fit. It's been a long time since I've seen what the RC control arms look light though, so I could be wrong.

I agree with chris...pretty sure the RC arms with their "bushings" are all they will ever be. If they weren't I would've changed mine out already.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. With RC arms, I'm pretty sure you're stuck with RC bushings.

I'll play devil's advocate since I had their 2.5" springs on my rig for a while, they ride fine and gave the amount of lift advertised. No experience with their shocks. However they are a very low spring rate so as soon as you add any extra weight they'll sag. That's why I upgraded, my front bumper and winch combo was too much for them.

It's really their shocks and bushings that are garbage. Their springs are actually okay.

After reading this I am considering sending the 2.5" kit back (springs and shocks) and sticking with the steering stabilizer and track bar bracket for the rear.

What would be a good 2-2.5" lift kit to go with? Most I have found are 3" or more unless I go with SS's leveling kit.......

The best 2.5" lift out there is the OME lift, hands down:

There's a reason that lift is so highly regarded!

I just replaced a rough country lift with a 2in OME kit. The difference in quality is really evident. It rides so much better and I'm not terrified anymore that my whole Jeep is going to fall apart if I hit a bump.

It seems like people either really like the OME or some combination of good quality springs + Bilstein shocks. I've seen both of those recommended on here and those are also the 2 recommendations I got from my local shop.

Wow! And it comes with everything!!!

I also needed a new track bar in addition to the OME kit. Basically the person who did a 3in RC lift on my Jeep before I got it used relocation brackets rather than getting an adjustable track bar. That left me in a situation where the track bar was not very stable and my shop and I agreed it was best to replace the track bar too because the original track bar and mountings were not in good shape by that point.

If your original track bar is in good shape, I believe that you should be able to get away with relocation brackets. If not, you may also need a new track bar. I think from what I've read on here, some stick with the original and some get a new one with the OME kit. It just depends on your particular Jeep. @Chris knows a lot more about this than I do so I'd trust his advice, but I just wanted to mention that I had to get a component in addition to the kit. Otherwise this kit is awesome and I am very happy with it.

Thanks!

I may pop the RC kit on there for now and save a bit for the OME....i would think by next summer I will have it...just tell the wife something is going wrong on the RC kit haha. Oh, and she won't kmow that I need the track bar lol.

Nope...Alaska is excluded. The SS kits will ship to me, but just spacers and the shocks.

Amazing how that works! @Ted (who was from Alaska as well) would always go through this as well, how so few companies were willing to ship to Alaska. Talk about annoying!
