What did you do to your TJ today?

When I picked up my half doors they were blue with tan interior panels so I had to paint everything. When I removed the panels to paint the doors themselves I did the interior section in standard Rustoleum TJ black satin & decided to extend it to include that strip that's visible from outside to break up the mass of red that is the rest of the rig, that's all.

Good detail. Chris please give him 50 bonus points.

Well I finally got to the OR FAB tire carrier.
I split the install up over a couple days because let's face it, 112-115 degree Temps causes too much swamp ass. I works nights from 1800-0400 so day time it was.

Went fairly smooth. The build quality is decent but their measurements were off a tad.
I will have to cut down the spare tire bolt because its too long to mount the wheel on front side out.

I need to order a couple of Rotopax mounts for my vodka jugs.

Here are the few pics I snapped along the way. We'll pretty much beginning and end.....

It's high tech!! Now if it was just a SLR that would be more Zorba!!!!!
I moved up from a Minolta SLR many years ago. Pricey, but worth it, and I can use all my classic Minolta glass. The nice thing now is that I can get similar bodies for 25 cents or less on the dollar. The new ones are fantastic, but way over my head capability wise (and pricewise!) and they're now phasing out the old "A-Mount" that they (Sony) inherited from Minolta. There's an adapter that costs as much as a camera, but its easier and cheaper just to buy a used body at this point.

Picked this up today, after selling my hard top this spring. Still not convinced I want it, but at the price I paid, I couldn’t pass it up. Needs a good cleaning, some touch up and one small repair. At the very least, having both tops again will aid in selling should I decide to list it. And the black looks so much better than the grey ever did!

Haha! 36 pics per roll. Anyone remember Velvia?
Yep, although I shot mostly Agfa. 36 pic roll would usually give you 38. I remember the first digicam I ever saw/used, ca 1998 or so. I think it had Kodak's name on it if I remember aright, but it was a "high end" camera at the time. A completely miserable device, you'd press the button and about 3/4ths of a second later the shutter would fire. Ended up with some "interesting" pictures.

The tech progressed rapidly though - I have a ca 2004 digicam - a run of the mill Kodak point and shoot - that I still use on occasion to this day. In fact, it took the above picture of the DSLRs. Its a whopping 2 megapixels, and its slow to write to the CF card, but it takes pretty good pix as long as you have decent lighting, and the low res is still fine for web work.

OMG! CF card. the cam needed a big buffer to pull off three shots. I remember trying to use the mini hard drive version of CF's. Those sucked too. I bought my wife a D1x camera for her Bday way back, the CF card was 1gb and cost $175. The D1x had double your digicam res, 4mp!!

She still has a N90s and a F5 (SLR's) body in the safe, fresh from Nikon's tuneup department, wrapped in plastic bags. Both bodies have had most of the writing rubbed off, you can't read the settings, they were like extensions of her arms.

My wife backed off the pro level shooting like a light switch about ten years ago, one of her friends sent her a picture that her little girl had drawn and it was a camera for the face and blond hair growing out of it. Like those English kids in the second great war wearing gas masks, "are you my mommy". My son still says that to her to get a laugh.

We put the back half of the OME lift kit on @Chief Brohician s’ clean 98 , installed the track bar relocation bracket and JKS Adjustable Track Bar and set the toe. Did it all in 2 evenings after work and greased the front end.

I won’t steal the thunder, it is his baby. Really great guy to hang with, takes pride in what he does and doesn’t cut corners.

This has been a long and slow journey for me. Deciding which direction to go. How big of a lift, which lift. After hanging out with @AndyG since returning from my last deployment and being able to drive his two Rubicon’s. All the reading here on the forum. I decided on the Old Man Emu (OME) 2.5” lift. Back order due to the pandemic. D’oh! When the OME lift kit got here. Wow. Good quality products. Beefy stuff. New springs, new shocks, new steering stabilizer, new pan hard relocate / move it higher bracket for the rear track bar. After tearing into it the first time, we noticed the dry rotted bump stops. Also, the stock sway bar links will not work. They are now too short and angle the sway bar down. No worries @AndyG said. We talked about different ones. @AndyG spoke highly of the JKS quick disconnect / adjustable sway bar links. I remember reading good things about JKS. I ordered those and front & rear adjustable track bars. Again, really nice products. OME & JKS have beefy stuff. Back order. D’oh! Finally get the JKS stuff in. Schedules happen. No time in May. June works out well for the front. Took about 5hrs and all of sweat 😅. Installed the front springs, front shocks, sway bar quick disconnect links the steering stabilizer, bump stops & the front adjustable track bar. July rolls around and we get back on schedule. Five hours later and we now have the rear springs, rear shocks, rear pan hard relocation bracket, rear adjustable track bar, & bump stops installed. Everyone needs 2-3 really good floor jacks. We only had one floor jack and a lot of can do attitude. I also inttalled two factory tow hooks that I powder coated pure orange on the front bumper. Still need to install the rear tow hook also powder coated pure orange. I wanted something different than red tow hooks. I am sure glad I have a great fiend in @AndyG to help me build this Jeep. More too come after my next deployment which is soon. Oh and the side steps are super beefy. Those were awkward to install. The last pictures are for comparison to before and after. Again, @AndyG saved me serious money with his experience and help. Plus I got a good friend and memories in the process. Never Jeep alone.
