Finally found some time to start pulling the hemi, computer and harness out of the rustbucket RAM. Not the most fun I've ever had pulling a motor. Feeding, disconnecting, and separating the harness is a pain since its my first time doing one of these. I managed to get it all disconnected with the harness laying on the motor. Motor is mostly unbolted. I've got to have the fun of removing the structural cover on the bottom of the motor/tranny, unbolt the torque converter, then last but not least, bellhousing bolts. There's a few other small things as well to do, but those are the big ones.

I've also pulled the gas pedal.

I think I may also need the harness for the NVLD, so I need to look into pulling that out as well.

Anyway, ugly pic of the day:

Glad you were able to get it out.
Thanks, they are kind of a bitch to pull. They sit so far back under the cowl. What made it a bit easier is I didn't mind destroying the truck! The motor actually unbolted and pulled reasonably easy, getting all of that wiring out in one piece was not an easy chore. Those damn plastic plugs do not like to unplug.

The fuel line appears to be stainless, so I think I'm going to pull that too, along with whatever NVLD/fuel pump stuff I can get my hands on. Hope it goes quick, I'm tired of lying underneath this rusty pig.

Been there myself. Mine came out of a Red Dodge Ram as well. We took the “easy” way out and pulled the cab off of the frame first…

I considered doing this as well, I'm not sure which route would have been easier or which would have been more likely to tear some piece of wiring that wasn't visible. The thing was so rusted I probably could've just tugged up on the cab with the tractor and it probably would've torn free.

I've still got some NVLD stuff to pull, though I'm not sure I need it, then finally this POS can go to scrap.

Glad that someone else shared in this "fun" as well!
