    3.07 to 4.88 re-gear question

Just an unrelated question real quick since I have ya; I was looking online at some 27 and 30 splines shafts for the rear for when I want to get something more robust. They should, in theory, still fit in the axle even with a little bit bigger diameter, right ?

    3.07 to 4.88 re-gear question

Oh yea. I’m just ready to have my 5th gear back, and eventually with the 35s I think it will still perform optimally for the style of wheeling I like to do. I’m not bouncing on rocks or anything like that. My wife and I both enjoy cruising on trails, and at rare times I like to get a little squirly.

    3.07 to 4.88 re-gear question

Here’s my plan so far: jeep will be paid off in a couple of months. It will be strictly a toy at that point. I want the 4.88 gears with the 35s I will eventually get as it will be a trail rig. With that being said, the 33s I have now will function fine with the new carriers you guys have helped...

    3.07 to 4.88 re-gear question

I’m having difficulties finding a carrier for a Dana 35 that will accommodate 4.88 gears. If you have time would you mind sending a link ? Maybe I’m over looking it. For the time being a think I’ll keep my 33son there. Little bit better peace of mind when it comes to maybe breaking an axle lol. A

    3.07 to 4.88 re-gear question

Thank you for breaking that down ! My Dana 30/35 I will need a 3.73+ for both, correct ? The super 35 others have mentioned I’m curious about. The super 35 comes with shafts that can handle more torque, but also comes with a locker to eliminate the need for a new carrier on the rear end. Am...

    3.07 to 4.88 re-gear question

I plan to run 35s with them. I do understand that my axle is not ideal with 35s, however I don’t plan on doing any extreme off roading. Light trail riding is what I enjoy most. Most importantly, I want to get my 5th gear back and maybe a little bit more gas mileage if I’m lucky.

    3.07 to 4.88 re-gear question

Hello jerry. Thanks for your advice man. I just ordered the master install kit from quadratec I didn’t know there was a option for thicker gears. I have a buddy of mine installing them for me who is a well rounded mechanic I just want to make sure I have all the correct parts to get the job...

    3.07 to 4.88 re-gear question

Hello everybody ! I hate to bore you guys with another re gear question but I’ve heard some conflicting info on other threads and also friends of mine. I got an 04 on a Dana 30/35 with stock 3.07 gears. Just recently purchased 4.88s as I plan on going to 35s here soon. Some people have told me...

Transmission sounds like rocks in a can when depressing the clutch pedal

I’m familiar with the sounds and quirks of the TJ transmissions however with that being said it didn’t always do this and recently it’s gotten substantially worse. Recently, I’ve noticed the shifter throws have displayed a little resistance going into second and sometimes 3rd. Any ideas Chris ...

Transmission sounds like rocks in a can when depressing the clutch pedal

It’s been a little while since I’ve changed it. I have a clutch kit, fly wheel and national TOB coming in the mail today and I’ll be changing all that out and when I do that I’ll throw in some brand new tranny fluid and see what that does for me. I have no idea how long it sat before I bought...

Transmission sounds like rocks in a can when depressing the clutch pedal

Hello, jerry. glad you replied as you seem to be very knowledgeable like much of the other guys on here. Let me elaborate a little; So this particular noise is not present with the clutch in or out. The noise appears after I have began motion, and right as I’m almost completely off the clutch...

Transmission sounds like rocks in a can when depressing the clutch pedal

Hello everybody, Before posting I tried to look around at several others and nobody really shared/displayed the same symptoms I’m having so please bare with me on a common question that seems to appear a lot. I bought my 04 TJ with 66k miles on it and it ran like a charm. It still does, but a...

Should I loosen upper control arms before lift install?

Hey Jerry thank you for your advice ! I find it very odd that I’ve taken it to 2 shops now and had them balanced only to still have the same issue. Also had an alignment done at the same 2 shops as well. I have noticed that my driver side tire is having weird wear patterns on the outside of the...
