What did you do to your TJ today?

Two days ago, but took my daughter to a snow covered parking lot and taught her how to spin cookies. :p

So what OEM parts should we be stocking up on?

Mine likes to eat blend door actuator levers. Omix makes replacements, but I don't think you can get OEM ones anymore. I'm stocking up on them in case they get discontinued some day. I also need to get some spare O2 sensors since it's so sensitive to having the correct factory ones.

Am I supposed to have a rear defrost switch?

Just a quick follow up, I found a used switch for cheap on deadjeep.com. Popped off the dash bezel and the switch housing for the rear wiper / rear defrost came out with 4 screws. The plug for the rear defrost switch was already in place, so I popped out the filler plate, snapped in the...

Am I supposed to have a rear defrost switch?

Gotcha. So, since my Jeep already had the wiring harness for the hard top, in theory should there be an unused plug behind the dash that I will connect to the new switch?

Am I supposed to have a rear defrost switch?

I have a later hardtop (I think it's from an 04 or 05) on my 97 Jeep. I found a guy on ebay who makes wiring adapters so I bought one and the wiper & washer are working fine. The question is, my rear window has a defroster but there's no rear defrost switch on my dash. Is that a separate...

    Oil pressure drop when stopped

Worst case, if you rule everything else out, replacing the oil pump isn't a horrible job. I replaced the one in my '97 4.0 a few weeks ago with a standard (non high pressure) Melling pump. It used to get down close to zero at idle with a hot engine and occasionally sound the alarm, now it...

    That looks great. Nice work.

What did you do to your TJ today?

Great so far. Much quieter, you can actually hear the radio at highway speeds. I sure wouldn't want to have one without AC around here, though. One weird thing I ran across was the spacing for the bolts. IIRC the top was from an 03, and my jeep is a 97. The front 4 bolts lined up perfectly...

What did you do to your TJ today?

I bought a hard top and installed it today. Yeah, I know, it's still summer. But school is starting soon and my daughter will be driving it, so I feel better with her having doors and a hard top. She'll be keeping school stuff like a laptop and band instruments in there, so I also added a...

Well here ya go, trigger pulled

I used Monstaliner on mine. Worked great, no regrets. Very easy to apply, just make sure you follow the directions. My 97 had a problem with the drain for the AC evaporator leaking back into the passenger compartment, causing puddles on the passenger side floor. The problem is that the drain...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Just a standard Melling. I didn't want to mess around with clearancing the pan for a high volume pump.

What did you do to your TJ today?

Last week I replaced the oil pump in my 4.0. Went from around 10 PSI at idle with the oil hot to a hair over 20. Two days ago, new cap/rotor/plugs/wires. The old plugs were probably the most worn I've seen on any engine. Guessing they had never been changed by the previous owner. Today I...

    Distributor replacement question

I have a fair amount of play in the distributor on my 1997 Sport with a 4.0. All of the guides I see say that I need to find TDC on the compression stroke on cylinder #1 when replacing the distributor, and when I replace the distributor end up with the rotor pointing at the #1 position. The AC...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Charged my A/C. I installed a Jeep Air retrofit kit a couple weeks ago, but today it finally got warm enough outside to fill it. Replaced the heater core while I was at it, and it's a good thing I ordered one. The old one was starting to seep a little and probably would have let go eventually.
