    8.8 rear end seals (again)

Bought the OEM motorcraft seals. Let's try this again...

    8.8 rear end seals (again)

Tacked a brake line bracket. Did it on both sides though so doesn't explain the tendency for the passenger side to weep only.

    8.8 rear end seals (again)

Doubt the shafts are bent because the old shafts had the seal go on the passenger side also. In terms of bent tube, the truck is a summer time pavement princess. Doubt I bent the tube but I guess it’s possible. Though very unlikely. I park on a sloping grade with one side of the truck lower...

    8.8 rear end seals (again)

No burrs. Brand new Dana shafts out of the box. No idea about seal because I haven't removed the wheel yet.

    8.8 rear end seals (again)

I did two quarts so I actually thought I underfilled it. I guess I can drive it until I see no seepage and then check the oil level.

    8.8 rear end seals (again)

Replaced seals, bearings and split shafts in the 8.8 a month ago. Come out to the jeep and inside of the tire is once again soaked with diff oil after only 100 or so miles on the new equipment. Same side (passenger) as before the refurb work a month ago. Other than the seal being misaligned...

8.8 brake hoses: Do stock TJ hoses work?

@mrblaine, wanted to ask you a follow up. Doing the 8.8 bearings, oil seals and possibly axle shafts as well this weekend. Wanted to know if there was a measure of how much wear to look for on the axle shafts to determine if I need to replace the shafts or keep OEM. I bought a pair from...

8.8 brake hoses: Do stock TJ hoses work?

Seems we both like to burn money. Already bought the banjos and the washers come with the extended brake lines.

8.8 brake hoses: Do stock TJ hoses work?

Thanks! BTW your wizard brackets worked wonderfully. Quality product. Just wish I had realized I needed to swap the backing plates before assembling the parking brake haha

8.8 brake hoses: Do stock TJ hoses work?

Ripping the 8.8 axle apart due to another leak and and going to replace the shafts, bearings and seals this time. Also wanted to move the caliper brake hoses a little further inboard so need to know if the banjo bolt brake hoses from a TJ will work on an 8.8 caliper? Banjo bolt for both seems to...

    8.8 axle seal leak

Have a TJ with an 8.8 out of a 2000 Explorer. 2 months back I noticed I had a slight axle seal leak on passenger side. Drained the pumpkin, pulled the pin and the axle and installed a new seal. Jeep has mostly sat this summer because of work etc. Last night crawled under to bleed the brakes and...

    Starter noise at crankover

Have a new noise today. At initial crankover, engine turns, starts and then there’s a short subtle rattling and then everything sounds normal. Am I assuming correctly that’s the starter not disengaging fast enough? Is there a fix or just wait for failure and replace?

    Child seat anchors

Yup. And sadly the 2003 and up bench can’t be installed into the 97-2002 TJs so I’ve had to use the regular seat belt to secure the seat.

    Fender flare bolt size question

Removed the stock flares and trying to source replacement hardware in stainless. Looks like the nutserts are #12-28 thread pitch. Can someone confirm if that's correct? Seems like a really odd size to use for a mass produced vehicle. Thanks!
