Yeah, had the cats done a year or so ago. That smell is nasty. At first, reminded me of the Seinfeld episode where the car smelled like BO.

What @3jeepfan said. There is bulb style weather stripping that presses against the inside upper lip of the tailgate.

IDK. you might have to get a whole tailgate bar. Never hurts to check!

There should be a bulb type seal that runs across the tailgate bar. The tailgate closes against it.

More progress. Been needle scaling and wire wheeling the tub til my hands numb. Just trying to add some life to the old girl. 💪🏼
