I went with muriatic pool acid because it’s what I Had. I mixed 2 cups with 4 gal of water. It takes a few hrs to remove the scale. It does a great job. How long will that last. I know in my case it only takes a few days for things to get spread out again. Lucky for me no one uses my shop but me. My shop is a mile from the house and my wife keeps coming over and threatens to organize things for me.

Because I only use the winch once in a blue moon I always disconnect it from the battery. My TJ will sit for a month or more so I also have a battery disconnect switch.

Score one for the South West. We just get Sun damage if not parked under cover.
