Did I just buy counterfeit hubs from Amazon?

    Ah, I think I misread. I'm a noob.

Did I just buy counterfeit hubs from Amazon?

Finally got the new ball joints and hubs installed. How much grease do the bearings in the hubs have in them? There was a pretty good amount of crusty, dirty grease splattered along the bearing seals and entire backside of the old hubs, and I really don't know where it all came from. Do they...

Did I just buy counterfeit hubs from Amazon?

I would have hoped that the manufacturers could offer different grades of product, perhaps one crappy outsourced one to appease the market you mentioned, but then a better line for those of us who want better parts. Is that not the case? I get what you're saying completely. What I've read up...

Did I just buy counterfeit hubs from Amazon?

I ordered some Timken HA597449 hubs from Amazon that arrived tonight. They don't look like any of the pictures I've seen while searching for these. Can anyone confirm that these are good to go? The last pic is a stock photo that I find on every site that sells this model. Thanks in advance.

I'm very relieved to hear that. I'll put it to rest and stop worrying until something new comes along. Thanks!

Engine won't reach normal temperature after cooling system replacement

If you're insinuating that I claimed it was a 195° model, I didn't even know there were different thermostat temperatures available until it was mentioned in this thread. I was advised in this thread to check the box. The box said it was 195°. It was later suggested that I check to see if it...

Engine won't reach normal temperature after cooling system replacement

I pulled the thermostat; it was a 160°. I put the crappy one in there and fired it up, it got up to 190 before I had to go back to work. It "burped" much more aggressively with the 1/8" hole drilled into the rim, that's a neat trick. It made the ticking and water noise when I turned it off...

Here's a video of the sound. I didn't have a chance to pull the belt yet, I'll do that later and make a video. But, does the swishing tick sound normal? And the knocking sound under the tub?

Engine won't reach normal temperature after cooling system replacement

I actually didn't give the salesperson the chance to be clueless, the lack of clue was my own. I just thought "more expensive is probably the best," but I had never before heard of the distinction between "fail safe" and normal thermostats. Lesson learned. Right now there is no coolant in it...

Engine won't reach normal temperature after cooling system replacement

I'd never heard that sound before flushing the coolant system. It was LOUD. I'll try to get a video of it, but I'm afraid that I'm destroying my engine. It was the freakiest thing I've ever heard.

Engine won't reach normal temperature after cooling system replacement

This defective thermostat was the most expensive thermostat NAPA has. I ordered the Stant you recommended earlier, it won't be here until Thursday of next week. I just grabbed the one from autozone to get this defective one out and see what that does to my temps. I fully intend to install the...

No. So just take the belt completely off and turn it on for a minute? Nothing will explode? Edit: I see you already answered that question in your previous post. I'll try that and get back with you. Thanks.

I'll get a video at lunch. I tried to take a video before, but the sound doesn't come through on the phone very well. Got a hint of what some other potential items would be?
