I was contemplating that trail over spring break. I’d be tempted to give it a go next time we’re down there.

My friend who is a body man says that’s just fine. I was shooting for that with a project I was asking him about. I can say that when you’re block sanding the filer, a longer block will give you a flatter panel but it’s a lot of work.

    All things welding

The back side should look something like this when the planets are aligned. It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty good. You’re doing your buddy a hell of a favor. Hiring this work out is very expensive. My body man friend said what I did was $3k minimum as a start point if he was quoting it.

    All things welding

@hosejockey61 Butt welding sheet metal isn’t bad, just time consuming. That early Bronco is probably 18ga like my C10. I did rockers (inner&outer) floor pieces, cab braces, toe kicks, cab corners, etc. Never did that kind of welding before that and it ended up just fine. I started with the floor...

It looks like you’re getting the hang of sheet metal welding. Lots of fitting and tacks. If a skim coat of filler will make it look straight then it’s good. Nice work bringing it back.

    2004 Cummins 4BT Swap - 5-Speed Tremec 4050 - NP 205

I dig it. The injection pump looks like the Bosch units that were on the MB 617 motors. I had one of those and ran all kinds of "fuel" thru it; ATF, engine oil, fryer oil, etc. Can you do that with the 4bt?

    Arizona Sedona, March 18-22

Thanks for the offer, but we had a long day hiking Devils bridge and Vultee arch. By the end of that it was time to get the kids in the pool and the adults in the hot tub. We’ll certainly be back again and maybe we can meet up then.
