    DrDirt’s 1997 Jeep Wrangler Sport

I didn't sign a release but I gave verbal approval. I met Traci Clark at the EJS last year and I've known Rick Pewe for years. No concern. Just happy with the cover shot.

    DrDirt’s 1997 Jeep Wrangler Sport

By the way, I recently celebrated my first year of retirement. It has been awesome. I highly recommend it. After last year's EJS trip, I've been working on my Jeep and had to get some other projects started around the house. A deck resurfacing and expansion project being the big one. (Still...

    DrDirt’s 1997 Jeep Wrangler Sport

Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit! My Jeep made the cover of Jp magazine. I was at the Easter Jeep Safari in 2018. On a Steel Bender trail ride, I rolled my Jeep on it's side. There were some media folks on the ride and I got to meet some of them. Well now one of the pics shows up on...

    TJ Winter Upgrade Project

So I'm back from Moab and the winter upgrade project is complete and tested on the rocks. We took four days to get to Moab. Arrived at the Condo on Sunday, 3/25. Took the northern route from South Carolina via I70. Not a bad drive until we got to Denver. Going through Denver with the traffic...

I also had to get a couple of custom steering parts because of wider axle. The turnbuckle sleeve in the drag link had to be lengthened 2-1/2 inches and I got a new tie rod that 5" longer.

Need your opinions on BF Goodrich KM2 MT 35x12.5x15 tires

I just took a set of 35X12.50R17 KM2s off of my Jeep and installed a set of the KM3s. Tough for me to say anything bad about them as I was the product manager for that tire. So I'll just say I liked them and continue. The "K" series of tires is the Key feature of this tire is Mud. Thus the KM...

    TJ Winter Upgrade Project

And there was one request from my wife of 36 years. She is a breast cancer survivor (fortunately it was found early, stage 1) and her upper body strength isn't was it use to be. (It never was that good, but now its worse.) She wanted some type of step to help her get in and out of the Jeep...

    TJ Winter Upgrade Project

Axles have 4.56 gears with ARBs. The new Dynatrac front axle is made 5" wider than a stock TJ. I use to run wheel spacers on both axles. Not on the front now. Still have them on the rear. The rear axle is a Dana 44.

    TJ Winter Upgrade Project

Got what I think is the final addition to my Jeep for this upgrade. Being an alumni of working on the BFG brand for many years, I got a set of BFG KM3s for the Jeep. Will be giving them a try out in Moab. .

Poll: White letters facing in or out?

Mine are in and the white is painted over. But as Daz7 mentioned earlier in this thread, the new BFG KM3 is black on both sides. No white letters. I'm suppose to be getting a set of the KM3's very soon for my Jeep.

    TJ Winter Upgrade Project

Exhaust is done and skid plate is mounted up. Other than a little cleaning up, the Jeep is finished! (At least for now, I still have some Poison Spyder fenders to install at a later date.) I driven it around town for about 100 miles. The new brakes are working very good. Jeep is tracking...

    TJ Winter Upgrade Project

A major step in progress has been made! I was able to roll out the Jeep out of the shop under its own power. Drove it a short distance down the street and back. Looks like the caster is not quite right yet. It will need some adjustment. Still have some work to do. I've ordered a small...

Why do they only make metric size tires for 16" wheels?

I posted this last year in this thread. I copied it to repost it here. I'm now a "retired tire guy" after working for Michelin for 37-1/2 years. I'm a "soon to be retired" tire guy so I can shed a little light on the subject on the sizing of 16" vs 16.5". But I'll try to keep it brief. One...

    TJ Winter Upgrade Project

I've quickly discovered that being retired and working on my Jeep will result in me having to do a lot of stuff by myself. Don't get me wrong, retirement is great and I'm loving it. I already posted how I used my engine hoist/cherry picker to lift my axles in position. But now I needed...

    TJ Winter Upgrade Project

My build is coming along pretty good. All the lift kit is in and both axles are installed. Not everything is tight yet but it soon will be. I'll be putting on the tires and letting the Jeep sit on the shop floor by this weekend. Not ready to drive it yet though. I need to take some...
