Tailgate bar keeping tailgate from latching tightly

Yeah, I trimmed about 1/2"-3/4" off the "flat" part of the seal on each end and the door closes perfect. There seems to be no gaps either.

Tailgate bar keeping tailgate from latching tightly

Here are the pics of the seal. Looks like I need to trim it to allow the gate to fully close.

Tailgate bar keeping tailgate from latching tightly

I will take some pics of mine in the morning. Basically it is getting hung up on the "harder" part of the seal under the "half-round" softer top seal if that makes sense. That combined with the thicker factory seal on the tailgate itself is a lot to squeeze in that space and I don't want to...

Tailgate bar keeping tailgate from latching tightly

Ok thanks! I think I'm still going to trim my weather seal. The factory weather strip on the tailgate itself is thick and in good shape and that is what is pushing against the seal on the bar. I'd rather sacrifice the tailgate bar seal instead of smashing the factory seal.

Tailgate bar keeping tailgate from latching tightly

I just installed a new Quadratop soft top on my jeep this week too, and I am having the same issue with the tailgate not completely closing at the top. Did you ever figure this out? I was ready to start trimming the seal and my wife stopped me. I also have a Hardtop but was thinking the jeep...

    Woolwax and tire rotation

Woolwax is much better than fluid film. I've done both my Tundra and my jeep with it. I buy the gallon jug and have their sprayer. I usually have to heat it up in boiling water to get it to spray evenly because it's so thick, the spray cans are thinned out a little more. It has lasted 2 years on...

    Button next to OBDII connector

Mine is not factory and the PO never told me about it. It also has remote start. It came with a key fob and I had to Google it to find out it was a viper system.

    Button next to OBDII connector

My Jeep has the same button. Mine is the "Valet" mode button for my Viper alarm system.

    That RMS leak opinion question

I used a bottle of the AT-205 and mine hasn't leaked a drop in over 3 months. (Knock on wood). I'm sure not a permanent fix but it's buying me time.

    Replacing washing machine water valves

Been a plumber for 32 years now, and I still can't bring myself to use Shark-bite fittings, LOL. I do use a lot of pro-press but still like soldering too. For your repair, I would just pick up a couple of these and be done...

Mothers Back to Black is amazing

They haven't yet and I did it about 3 years ago. They use this same procedure on plastic stadium seating too.

Mothers Back to Black is amazing

I used a heat gun on my old faded fender flares and it worked better than anything "applied", but have to be careful not to melt it.

    Waiting Sucks!

Not sure, but they do sell counterfeit parts. BTW, I never said everything they sell is Chinese made, but a majority of it is. If I were buying something important for my jeep, car or truck, I ain't buying from Amazon.
