    So the problem is that the XJ is OBD1 and TJ is OBD2. There we go, I need and OBD2 engine (i.e. +96)

    Yeah, that would be illegal to do unless you register the vehicle as a custom build and that is a lot of hassle and $$$. In the future an stroker build with the 4.0L base would be an interesting prospect.

    I'd prefer going the 4.0L route keeping the jeep DNA intact and also keep the reliability. Would it be possible to strip the whole engine harness and install an complete harness from an 1997 4.0L TJ and make it work?

    Hi guys! New member here from Sweden with an 1997 wrangler TJ 2.5L. My question: I can get an 1992 XJ 4.0L for like 100 usd and Im wondering if theres any difference than an 4.0L swap from an TJ? Engine mounts, ECU and so forth? Thanks!
