I also am aware that mopar/dodge put that same 2.4l 4-cylinder in about a million PT cruisers. The cable ends look the same on both a 2.4 from a PT Cruiser as well as a 2.4 out of a TJ. Might the cable from the PT work in the 2.4 in a '05 TJ?
