What did you do to your TJ today?

I pulled a worn out four banger in favor of a TJ 4.0l in a 95 YJ. Found a three speed Otto, and two Waggy 44’s with Detroits and 4.56 gears. 4” spring under lift and 33’s. 3000 rpm’s at 60 mph I recall. Wish I never sold that Jeep!

What did you do to your TJ today?

Wife is tired of the dust. Misses her Costco! I like it here myself.

What did you do to your TJ today?

Selling our Baja house and hauling the jeep back to Minnesota. Have a couple weeks yet to enjoy the 80 degree temps topless before we leave. Hard top is back on for the trip.

New Jeep added to the stable

Bought a 2010 Jeep Commander with 66,300 miles on it. Sport version with the 5.7l Hemi. Rust free body, with the usual midwestern surface rust on the suspension components. A new can of Por-15 and topcoat will take care of that. In 13/14, we had a black limited when we lived in Prescott, AZ, but...

SOLD Sold-Fox reservoir rear shocks and front Bilstein, 4.5 lift

Fox 2.0 Pro Series rear shocks, and Bilstein 5100 front shocks. One Bilstein is soft. Others are fine. Located in Minnesota. Came off my LJ with a 4.5” lift. A bit dirty in the pic. Plus freight.

Replacing Rubicon Express control arms on an LJ

I was thinking of replacing the entire arm. Super Flex on one end, and the other is the Super Ride, poly bushing. I have replacement bushings for the rest of the system, which I can use the ball joint C-clamp to remove old ones and insert new ones. I'd like to dump the entire RE setup and go...

Replacing Rubicon Express control arms on an LJ

My RE suspension is almost as old as my Jeep. I have a long arm kit on the front and a short arm kit on the rear. It’s the Super Flex system, and squeaks like crazy from lack of grease. Lazy owner I think. I removed a lower rear axle arm a week ago, and replaced the flex joint with a poly one...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Hard top off for only the second time in six years. Hanging at the house in Baja Sur for the winter. Sun and suds!

What did you do to your TJ today?

Replaced the rear Fox reservoir shocks and front Bilstein 5100’s with a set of Rancho 5000x shocks. And replaced the brake pads. Wow, Jeep doesn’t sound like I tossed a box of tools down the stairs any more while on rough roads. Ride is excellent.

    35x12.5x15 on 15x8 or 15x10?

Here's my LJ when I first purchased it, came with 15x10's. I think they stick out too far. No difference in road handling from what I recall. The 10" rim is on the back, 8" rim is on the front. All 8" now.

    LJ shock selection

Thanks. Read it a few times already! Still unsure of course.

    LJ shock selection

Jeep is in Baja, I didn't get the correct compression, extension, and travel numbers to select a softer set of shocks. Washboard roads down there are murder! I did however, measure the distance between mounts. Both lower rear shock mounts have broke, so thinking shocks are too stiff, or not...

    Frame and undercarriage painting

I used POR-15 Chassis Black on my LJ. Now called Top Coat Chassis Black. Use latex or nitrile gloves when applying, and buy those cheap small brushes. Works great!

Get 'em while they're hot: new 03-04 Bosch fuel pump assemblies

Um, do these pumps have a limited lifespan or something?
